Purpose of Job
The purpose of this job is to perform duties related to inventory control, evidence and property seized, found or collected. Maintain strict accountability and ensure chain of custody for all inventory and property as required. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to; maintaining police equipment, supply inventories, evidence and property seized; issuing inventory items to authorized personnel; preparing/maintaining documentation; and performing additional duties as assigned.
Job Related Requirements
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday/40 hours per week
May be required to work on religious holidays.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Must work cooperatively with others.
When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy.High school diploma or equivalent with two years of experience involving inventory control and equipment inventory or related experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
Requires ability to be bonded.

When Assigned to Property Room
Maintains various serialized and non-serialized inventories of police supplies and equipment.
Maintains a by-name inventory of all police equipment, uniforms and related accessories issued to each employee.
Issues or exchanges police equipment, uniforms and related accessories assigned to authorized employees.
Performs preventive maintenance checks on all police equipment and related accessories.
Performs minor repairs; routes equipment needing repair to appropriate maintenance facility.
Maintains log of all repairs by item, nature, date, employee's name, and probable cost.
Completes requisition forms for purchase of equipment and supplies for the department; obtains pricing bids from suppliers and stocks equipment, supplies and administrative forms as required.
Responds to routine requests for information or assistance from officials, members of the staff, the public or other individuals.
Answers the telephone; provides information; returns calls as necessary.
Prepares and/or generates routine correspondence, purchase requisitions, purchase orders, forms and other documents via computer and/or typewriter.
Performs indirect supervision of state inmate labor; transports inmates to/from work camp; monitors performance.
When Assigned to Evidence
Prepares all evidence requested by solicitors, district attorneys, investigators, and officers for preparation of court cases and testifies in court when requested.
Prepares and maintain computerized records of all items unclaimed and available for sale after the cases have been closed.
Prepares and maintains an admission log into the evidence room as required by National Accreditation and State Certification Agencies.
Prepares and maintains active records of all evidence to be destroyed and items that have been destroyed, i.e., drugs, weapons, etc.
Notifies owners when their personal property is available to be released.
Releases items to the owners after verification that the case has been disposed and proof of ownership has been established.
Prepares and/or generates routine correspondence, letters, memoranda, forms, reports and other documents via computer and/or typewriter.
Copies and distributes correspondence, memoranda, reports and other related materials.
Answers the telephone; provides information; takes and relays messages and/or directs calls to appropriate personnel; returns calls as necessary.
Responds to routine requests for information from officials, employees, and members of the staff, the public or other individuals.
Receives all evidence, lost items, and found items turned into the ACCPD. Records, and assists in maintaining strict accountability of all items received as evidence / property.
Receives, validates, and catalogs all items returned from the State Crime Lab and prepares evidence and transports evidence to State Crime Lab.
Performs other related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the policies, procedures, and activities of the Police Department as they pertain to the performance of duties relating to the position of Inventory Control Technician II.
Knowledge of the terminology used within the department.
Knowledge of applicable federal/state laws, standards of the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, departmental policies and procedures, and departmental methods as required in the performance of duties.
Knowledge of automated property control and inventory management, equipment and supplies utilized by police agencies, hazardous materials and preventive maintenance techniques and procedures for equipment held in inventory.
Knowledge and ability to operate various machinery and office equipment including a police vehicle, computer, typewriter, calculator, copier, and telephone.
Skill in inventory control, maintaining equipment and supply inventories, and oral and written communications.
Ability to compile, organize, prepare and maintain an assortment of records, reports and information in an effective manner and according to departmental and/or governmental regulations.
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and other staff members.
Ability to use independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including a police vehicle, computer, typewriter, calculator, copier, and telephone. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. This position requires: walking, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to exert up to one hundred pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to fifty pounds of force frequently. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for heavy work.
