Plains has an immediate opening for an Inventory Control Specialist in St. James, LA. Reporting to the Supervisor, Inventory Control and working closely with field operations and tank lease customers, you will help ensure quality and accuracy of product movements and perform physical inventory controls including timely and accurate accounting and advanced notice of possible product losses. Daily, you will review operations' input and scheduling updates, balance terminals, and review over/shorts with out-of-tolerance investigations and explanations. In addition, you will record all transactions in the appropriate inventory control system and ensure data transfers to the company's financial system. Travel is expected/required (up to 10%).

Responsibilities:
Inventory System
- Review and validate entries input by operations.
- Ensure all movements are documented and match movement schedule.
- Review discrepancies between actual and movement schedule with local scheduler.
- Input movements into inventory system from inventory documents, meter reports, and inspection reports not entered by operators.
- Input gravity, temperature, and S&W from lab results by movement into inventory system when necessary.
Inventory Tracking
- Confirm volumes with inspection companies when necessary.
- Track movement volume confirmations vs. metered/tank volume and follow up on out of tolerance discrepancies.
- Provide customers with actual movement certificates as requested.
- Produce reports for customers, Operations, Accounting, Regulatory, and Management.
- Interact with internal and external customers regarding inventory questions and concerns.
- Reconcile each terminal by tank inventory daily in conformance with Plains' and regulatory standards.
- Maintain files for scheduled movements.
- Crosstrain with associates as backup.
- Track net volume for vessels and report volumes to dock associate. Maintain tables in inventory system.
- Provide Operations with tank reconciliation daily and follow up on out-of-tolerance explanations.
- Verify daily inventory and product movements by tank along with line fill and provide daily statement to customer and tickets when requested.
- Work with scheduling at month end to reconcile nominations versus actuals before delivering data to Accounting.
- Manage monthly dashboard/summary of terminal and generate monthly meeting material.
Inventory Accounting
- Work with team to test and implement modifications to inventory accounting system.
- Review and investigate over/shortages for inventory accuracy, tolerances, and loss detection.
- Perform analysis of loss/gain over .50% daily and .25% monthly to provide early notice of possible product losses.
- Review customer statements daily for accuracy and loss/gain evaluation.
- Ensure all activities are recorded correctly for billing purposes.
- Ensure all contract information, including billable items, is marked properly and billed correctly.
- Distribute customer statements monthly.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business with accounting or finance focus
- 5 years' oil/gas industry experience
- 3 years' stock reconciliation, accounting, or related experience preferred
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills; able to effectively interact with employees in the organization as well as with vendors and customers
- Able to read inventory documents and meter reports and use this information to develop required reports
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and work with minimal supervision
- Excellent analytical skills, judgment, initiative, and attention to detail
- Agile and deadline-driven
- Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams) and related tools, including spreadsheets
- Available to travel and complete site visits (up to 10%)
- Cleared criminal history (background) check and satisfactory reference checks
- Compliance with the company's Drug & Alcohol Policy including pre-employment testing
