Salary: $20.31 - $25.39 HourlyLocation : San Marcos, TXJob Type: Full-time Non-ExemptJob Number: 202401420Department: UtilitiesOpening Date: 09/09/2024Closing Date: 9/20/2024 4:59 PM CentralWork Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - FridayFLSA: Non-exempt position, eligible for overtime compensation.JOB SUMMARYJOB SUMMARYPerforms inventory and warehouse functional support for the Utilities Department including ordering, purchasing, receiving, stocking, storing, issuance, distribution, maintenance, inventory, and asset management. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DECISION MAKINGESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSPerforms day-to-day warehouse/storeroom operations: purchasing, receiving, storing, distributing, maintenance, cycle counts, and inventory control of uniforms, parts, tools, materials, supplies, equipment, inventory or surplus property. Adheres to established procedures and guidelines for storage, inventory control, materials management, safety, security, and basic accounting practices and coordinates with Finance/Legal as needed.Ensures thorough and accurate inventory records are maintained. Ensures completion of periodic physical inventory counts and reconciles counts with inventory records. Investigates, reports, and resolves inventory discrepancies. Prepares and maintains various administrative/accounting reports: administrative budgets, invoices, purchase orders, check requests, material disbursements, non-recoverable inventory, procurement card statements, inventory control, and monthly summaries.Contacts vendors to obtain price quotes and acquire costly materials or inventory. Performs follow-up coordination to expedite delivery, receipt and payment of costly or highly specialized inventory and materials. Monitors vendors' compliance with contract prices. Contacts vendors to resolve problems or discrepancies. Assists in contract administration activities, i.e., pre-bids. Forecasts and identifies trends to maintain current and appropriate levels of inventory in-house and on order. Ensures warehouse stock is rotated. Determines reorder points. Labels and organizes stock on inventory shelves. Coordinates requirements of sections with regular or special supply needs.Ensures storerooms, warehouses and storage areas are maintained in a clean, orderly, safe and secure condition. Ensures safety and security of materials, supplies and property. Determines and disposes of expired, spoiled, damaged or obsolete items and inventory. Ensures adherence to City and State guidelines for acquisition, storage, distribution, maintenance and disposition of inventory and associated records.Miscellaneous:Attends training classes as assigned.24-hour call maybe required in a storm or emergency related event.Performs other related duties as required.DECISION MAKINGThis position works under general supervision.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Salary is dependent upon qualifications)MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSHigh School Diploma or equivalent is required.Three (3) years of inventory control, materials management, or record keeping experience are required. Forklift Certification may be required within one (1) year of employment.Must possess a valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience with Automotive and Heavy equipment parts procurement and terminology. CORE COMPETENCIES AND PHYSICAL DEMANDSCORE COMPETENCIESMust be able to read/comprehend accounting, purchasing, and inventory records.Effective verbal and written communication skills are required; must be able to maintain positive working relationships with City departments and personnel, outside agencies, vendors, suppliers, and the general public. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONSPhysical requirements include lifting up to 100 pounds rarely. Subject to vision constantly; sitting, handling, fine dexterity, balancing, hearing and talking frequently; standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, bending, twisting, climbing and foot controls occasionally; kneeling, crouching and crawling rarely. Working conditions involves exposure to variable and/or extreme weather conditions, heavy equipment, hazardous chemicals, and infectious diseases.
