Summary This position serves as an Inventory Manager in the Commodity Management Division of the Logistics Service in the VA Health Care System responsible for the inventory and management of all expendable supplies and durable medical equipment in the assigned area(s). Responsibilities Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Inventory Management and Control: Responsible for the management and control of an assigned class of expendable material; serves as the point of contact for the coordination of material support and resolution of logistic problems; conducts forecasting and quantitative analysis; conducts spot checks; and complies with special requirements for firearms, ammunition and sensitive equipment Returns, Recalls, and Reutilization: Implements federal and agency programs for the return and reutilization of medical supplies; coordinates disposal of surplus or excess supplies; makes emergent procurement decisions; and participates in root cause analysis process Performs other related duties as assigned. Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Knowledge of lean/six sigma principles and other performance improvement techniques. Comprehensive understanding of supply principles, planning, inventory and accounting methods are required to properly manage the inventory management program and determine the means and methods to resolve issues and improve operations. Broad knowledge of technical characteristics and uses of medical and non-medical devices. Broad knowledge of computerized inventory systems and ability to download and upload data to the appropriate databases. Extensive knowledge of ADP applications such as GIP, integrated Funds Distribution, Control Point Activity (IFCAP) and various Federal Agency websites to resolve problems. Comprehensive knowledge of the GIP or similar EX inventory management system and the ability to use various computer database applications and office software programs for various communications.
