Alexandria, VA, USA | Full TimeSGI Global is seeking an Investigative Analyst to provide technical and programmatic support services for new and on-going projects and activities for the OIG's Office of Investigations (OI).This position is contingent upon contract awardResponsibilitiesThe Investigative Analyst must execute duties in support of the following:Planning, organizing, and conducting research, analysis, and/or evaluation of information to assist and provide advice to OIG in ongoing investigations.Formulating information source search strategies and reviewing data to identify patterns and relationships across financial, criminal, public records, and other information.Developing complex investigative and analytic products and reports in furtherance of investigations into grant and contract fraud, false claims act violations, embezzlement, and other misconduct.Developing profile data and trend analyses, identifying trends or indicators of illegal or improper activity from background material and evidence, and correlating the collected information to support ongoing investigations.Evaluating information obtained from evidence, open source, social media, public records, subpoenaed records, and databases.Utilizing large data sets to conduct complex investigative and analytic research projects involving subject identification, link analysis, or intelligence data summarization and generating reports for OIG.Briefing findings and recommendations orally and in writing to supervisors, OIG management officials, special agents, and other OI staff.Preparing interim and comprehensive final reports for OIG and other parties designated by OIG.Gathering and analyzing data to proactively identify high risk areas in NSF programs and operations.Coordinating proactive reviews that will lead to criminal, civil, and administrative investigations, including those of a complex nature.QualificationsBachelor Degree or higherA minimum of 5 years' experienceMust be a U.S. Citizen or permanent residentMust be able to satisfy NSF background investigation requirements and receive an interim and final favorable fitness adjudicative determination by the NSF Personnel Security and Suitability team. An active security clearance is preferred, but not required.Mastery of and skill in applying generally accepted investigative principles, techniques, methods, and procedures applicable to an OIG investigative function.Expert knowledge and experience conducting independent research and link analysis to establish possible criminal associations, detect trends, develop case-specific subject profiles, and visualize results of highly complex criminal investigations involving financial fraud, false statements and claims, and other acts affecting NSF programs, employees, grantees, and contractors.Knowledge of statistical modeling and analysis of large data sets. The individual will utilize several tools including, but not limited to, Microsoft Excel, Power BI, i2 Analyst's Notebook and other resources to identify and visualize trends in available data.
