DutiesReviews complaints and referrals from other OSC Divisions, outside agencies, and taxpayersDevelops investigative strategies and tools formulating a plan to pursue a potential fraud case.Performs research on the functions of the entity to be examined to determine its purpose, organization, funds involved, and applicable laws, rules and regulations governing its operationAssists in planning investigation/examinations activities, including specific tasks, and recommends examination scheduleInterviews targets, subjects, and witnessesConducts surveillanceCollects evidence using proper forensic proceduresAssists in the execution of search warrantsConducts analyses of financial and other recordsUtilizes investigative and analytic tools and databasesPrepares written records including case activity reports and summaries of Investigations.Performs analysis of relevant materialsRegularly interacts and provides guidance to federal, state and local enforcement and administrative enforcement agenciesAssists law enforcement and administrative agencies in obtaining relevant documentation and other evidenceTestifies, as required, in legal proceedingsConducts Investigation of potential fraudInterviews targets, subjects, and witnessesConducts surveillanceCollects evidence using proper forensic proceduresAssists in the execution of search warrantsConducts analyses of financial and other recordsUtilizes investigative and analytic tools and databasesAssists Law enforcement and administration agencies in pursuing matters of a potential fraud case.Prepares written records including case activity reports and summaries of Investigations.Performs analysis of relevant materialsRegularly interacts and provides guidance to federal, state and local enforcement and administrative enforcement agenciesAssists law enforcement and administrative agencies in obtaining relevant documentation and other evidenceTestifies, as required, in legal proceedingsMinimum QualificationsA bachelor's degree and four years of relevant experience*Substitutions: four years of specialized experience or associate's degree and two years of specialized experience may substitute for bachelor's degree; J.D. or master's degree may substitute for one year of specialized experience; Ph.D. may substitute for two years of specialized experienceDesired CompetenciesStrong interest in conducting fraud investigationsStrong interpersonal skillsAbility to collect, synthesize and analyze large volumes of information quickly, competently and efficientlyExperience in interviewing witnessesExperience in interacting with the public and outside agenciesAbility to communicate, both verbally and in writing, clearly and conciselyPrevious law enforcement experience preferredAbility to manage large, diverse caseloadKnowledge of state and local government preferredTo ApplySubmit a clear, concise cover letter and resume to no later than January 23, 2024.Reference Item #00162-JMB on your cover letter for proper routing.If you have questions about this vacancy, please contact this Division representative:Division contact: Melissa Walker ...@osc.ny.govAdditional CommentsTelecommutingThe Office of the New York State Comptroller (OSC) supports telecommuting where it is reasonable to do so based upon the agency's mission and operational needs.
