Candidates should possess foundational knowledge in financial analysis and accounting, with 0-3 years of relevant professional experience. The ability to speak a second language is a plus.Responsibilities:Origination:
Collaborate with the Group's business development, trading, and investment teams to craft and refine trading and investment strategies, identifying promising targets and opportunities. Support traders by connecting with both existing and new potential partners unfamiliar with the Gerald Group to cultivate trading, financing, and investment opportunities. Participate in conferences, professional gatherings, and conduct site visits to mines and key regions to better understand emerging opportunities. Screen participants in the metals and mining industry to align potential targets with the Group's strategic objectives.Analysis & Deal Structuring: Conduct thorough financial and technical due diligence for potential trading opportunities and investments. This includes financial modeling, credit analysis, technical evaluations, gap and regression analyses, risk management, and comprehensive industry research. Assist in transaction structuring, including hedging strategies, structuring of security and collateral, tax optimization, legal review, financing, and risk mitigation. Prepare memorandums to be presented to our board and external stakeholders. Serve as the point of contact for external stakeholders, including consultants, financial institutions, and underwriters, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.Portfolio Management: Prepare or analyze technical, operational, and financial performance reports of Gerald's portfolio companies and investments. Apply technical understanding of mining projects (construction, engineering, operations), mineral processing and downstream refining to monitor and optimize projects in Gerald portfolio. Monitor health, safety, environmental and community compliance with the Group's policies. Take on temporary embedded roles in Gerald's portfolio companies, which may require rotational travel to mining projects in areas such as West Africa for extended periods of time.Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Metallurgy, Engineering, or a metals and mining related field from a top-tier university required. Strong proficiency in Excel modeling. This is a junior role with 0-3 years of experience in relevant sectors such as finance, accounting, commodities and natural resources, or industrial sectors is preferred. Experience working in various commodities and geographical locations is an advantage. Multi-Lingual candidates that are also fluent in Chinese, French, Spanish, Arabic, or Portuguese are strongly preferred. Excellent analytical and financial modelling skills, with the ability to make insightful recommendations and solve problems based on critical thinking and analysis. Strong proficiency in MS Office applications with advanced Excel skills in modeling and financial valuation and PowerPoint presentation. Capability to synthesize complex technical information into succinct reports for management. Self-starter, able to work independently or in a team environment and take initiative. Excels working in a multi-cultural, multi-jurisdiction team environment. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the desire and ability to interact with senior management, investment partners, operators, consultants, and other external parties. Outstanding written and oral communication skills. Highly proactive attitude and willing to work long hours as needed. Unquestionable integrity and ethics.
