Investment Banking Associate

As an Associate, you will act as a key member in our Investment Banking team and provide analytical support on mergers and acquisitions and capital raising transactions. Our small deal team size provides associates the opportunity to work with senior investment bankers and key management from client companies on a daily basis.

Compensation

  • Unlike the majority of Investment Banks, Colonnade pays bonuses on a quarterly basis based on performance.

You will assume a broad range of responsibilities including:

  • Developing and maintaining complex financial models
  • Performing various financial analyses, including valuations, accretion/dilution analyses, and merger consequences, with minimal oversight
  • Leading and coaching analysts in the development of financial models
  • Creating presentation materials for targeted sell-side and buy-side M&A advisory and capital raise opportunities, including research-driven writing of client materials
  • Developing prospective investor and buyer lists
  • Monitoring the deal process and progression via an internal customer relationship management (CRM) system
  • Soliciting and qualifying viable investors and buyers for the firm's investment banking clients in advance of discussions with senior management or client meetings
  • Conducting industry and company research and analysis
  • Acting as a key point of contact throughout the transaction process
  • Managing due diligence processes, including overseeing the creation and monitoring of electronic data rooms
  • Participating in deal documentation negotiations
  • Developing marketing materials, including pitch books
  • Gaining an understanding of the interests and investment criteria of private equity firms and strategic buyers in our sectors
  • Developing financial and business services industry and transaction expertise and staying current on industry developments

Candidates for the job will possess the following qualifications:

  • Strong quantitative/analytical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for excellence
  • Three or more years of work experience in investment banking, corporate development, corporate finance, valuation or accounting
  • The ability to excel in both team and self-directed settings
  • Assertiveness, initiative, leadership, and a strong work ethic
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Dedication to building a career in the investment banking industry
  • A bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.5 GPA, preferably in applied mathematics, engineering, economics, finance, business, or accounting
