In a joint effort between Denmark Bridge and The Export and Investment Fund of Denmark, we are looking for a passionate tech-savvy individual who can connect networks and people across the Atlantic and create business opportunities on both sides. Job description - DenmarkBridge (DKB) & Export and Investment Fund of Denmark (EIFO):

Below is a profile and description of specific tasks for the employment of a representative employee at the Consulate General in Silicon Valley:

  • The initial employment is expected to run from 1. December 2024 until 31. August 2027 with the possibility of extension.
  • The employee is formally employed by the Consulate General in Silicon Valley on equal terms with other representation employees, i.e. local conditions in relation to wages and employment.
  • In practice and for the purpose of daily work, the employee reports to both Jens-Otto Horslund (CEO of Denmark Bridge) and Lars Nordal Jensen (Managing Director & Head of Fund Investments at EIFO) and is expected to deploy his/her time equally between tasks from the two institutions.
  • The employee is part of the Consulate General in Silicon Valley's investment promotion team and is expected to work out of this office most of the employed time.
  • In the event there are periods of less activity in the person's primary area of employment - i.e. the work for EIFO and DKB, the management of the Consulate General in Silicon Valley can dispose of the manpower in question to solve other relevant tasks at the Consulate General.
  • The employee will be security cleared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs prior to employment.
Qualifications/profile:
  • Master's degree in business administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in organizing and managing large-scale events, with a strong ability to multitask and handle complex logistics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to engage effectively with diverse groups. A genuine networker.
  • A curious mind, always eager to learn and apply new information.
  • Proactive, with a drive to take initiative and lead projects.
  • Tech-Savvy: Deeply interested in technology and innovation. Keeping up to date with the latest advancements and understanding of how they can be leveraged to benefit large corporations, investors and stakeholders (i.e. academic institutions).
  • Thrive on autonomy and have a proven track record of successfully managing projects from inception to completion without close supervision. Ability to navigate complex tasks and make informed decisions independently.
  • Strong analytical skills and a keen understanding of the innovation landscape.
  • Methodical and data-driven approach to technology scouting. Keen eye for detail and the ability to analyze and synthesize information to identify emerging trends and potential opportunities.
  • Strong verbal and written skills in English.
Key responsibilities and tasks:
  • Event Planning and Coordination: Organize and coordinate high-level events, including proposing objectives and content, managing logistics, and liaising with speakers and vendors. Contribute to events in both the US, primarily Silicon Valley (CEO Summit, CTO Forum, Investor Forum and selected events with US/DK participants) and in Denmark, notably Copenhagen (EIFO's GP Summit in September and other selected events with US/DK participants).
  • Content Development: Work closely with tech experts and thought leaders to develop event content that highlights the latest technological advancements and industry trends.
  • Technology Scouting: Continuously research and identify new technology trends and innovations that can benefit large corporations. Build relationships with startups, tech companies, fund managers, and academic institutions. Together with and in close coordination with EIFO's transactional investment, a) produce top-level overview of potential business opportunities (i.e. within defense tech or other frontier domains) and b) pre-screen potential transactions moving them from first introductory meetings into an active pipeline.
  • Moderation and Facilitation: Prepare moderators for discussions during events, ensuring engaging and productive exchanges among participants.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Effectively communicate with all stakeholders, including members of DKB, technology partners, event attendees, and members of the DKB board to ensure alignment and satisfaction. Together with and in close coordination with the Foreign Ministry (i.e. Invest in Denmark) and EIFO's transactional investment team create tangible value for US companies post-investment through introductory meetings in DK – among corporates (DKB members and others), potential customers, investors, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Communication and Reporting: Contributing to publications and websites and social media. Ongoing (quarterly) intelligence- and analysis work relevant for both DKB and EIFO on the trends (technology, economic, venture market and geopolitics) from the US market. Provide reports on participant feedback to continuously improve offerings.

Employment conditions:
  • You will be offered full-time employment for +2 years on a local contract with the possibility of extension. Housing and relocation benefits are not provided as part of the employment and your spouse/partner is not eligible for a work permit.
  • This is a full-time salary position - the Consulate General's standard work week is 37 hours; but you are employed without an upper working hours limit. You will have a large degree of flexibility in organizing your own daily working hours.
  • You will be entitled to 5 weeks (25 working days) of paid vacation days per year.
  • As part of your salary, you will be covered by a workplace pension scheme.
  • You will be offered coverage of sickness expenses. So will your spouse/partner and children under the age of 26 if you provide for him/her/them.
  • The gross yearly salary for the position – for an employee subject to US income taxation – is 121,747$. For a tax-exempt employee (non-US citizen) the yearly net salary is 104,701$. Depending on the candidate's qualifications, an additional individual allowance may be added.
The Consulate General of Denmark in Silicon Valley:

The Consulate General is part of the Danish Foreign Service and Denmark's official representation in Silicon Valley and across the West Coast. We advise and assist in a number of areas – consular, commercial, investment and cultural – and we communicate to the US public on important topics of relevance to Denmark. The Consulate General consists of approx. 35 employees.
