Job Title: IPS Implementation Specialist Grade: 25 Salary: $92,055- $101,585 The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time IPS Implementation Specialist position at its intermediary organization, the Center for Practice Innovations. The implementation of evidence-based Supported Employment (SE) services is a complex process that involves cultural, philosophical, organizational, system and structural changes within and among mental health (MH) provider agencies and vocational rehabilitation (VR) agencies. The New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) has supported the implementation and sustainment of SE services using the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) approach for well over a decade. The Center for Practice Innovations (CPI) provides training to employment specialists and guidance and support to supervisors and managers at agencies designated by OMH. These sites now include community agencies with ACT teams, OISE services and CORE-PSR services, in addition to the PROS programs, state facility clinics, and OnTrackNY first episode psychosis coordinated specialty care programs that have been providing IPS services for a number of years. The goal of the program is to integrate treatment, support, and rehabilitation in a manner that facilitates the individual's recovery. Goals for individuals in the program include increasing employment and attaining higher levels of education. The chosen candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, excellent public speaking skills, and strong experience with the use of Microsoft Office products. This position can be fully remote, but the applicant must live in the NYC metro area or New York state. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Overall Function: The IPS Implementation Specialist/Trainer selected for this position will provide training and on-going technical assistance to IPS employment specialists, vocational staff members and program supervisors and managers at mental health provider agencies designated by OMH. As noted above, these include community agencies with ACT teams, OISE services and CORE-PSR services in addition to PROS, state facility clinics, and OnTrackNY first episode psychosis coordinated specialty care programs.
  • The incumbent will have primary responsibility for training and technical assistance activities related to IPS and will receive supervision and support from the initiative's lead and other senior CPI staff, as well as consultation from outside experts.
  • In order to provide the essential training and technical assistance with the necessary intensity and frequency for sites, incumbent will have regular and consistent contact with sites. This will occur through remote and on-site consultation visits as well as through face-to-face regional training sessions, on-line meetings, and webinars. In addition to these scheduled activities, incumbent will be available by e-mail, telephone, and other platforms as needed by each site.
  • Incumbent will be responsible for the development of training content for webinars and face-to-face workshops. They will often lead or co-lead these training events.
  • A portion of the incumbent's time will involve working side-by-side with employment specialists and supervisors at local agencies (e.g., team meetings, job developing, meeting with recipients).
  • Regular travel to sites, throughout NYS, will be necessary. The incumbent will frequently work off-site.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and at least three years professional experience in behavioral healthcare.
  • At least two years previous experience as an employment specialist assisting people diagnosed with serious mental illness in obtaining and maintaining competitive employment using IPS.
  • Personal lived & living experience of mental health and/or substance recovery can substitute for education and/or work experience.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least one year experience working as IPS trainer for a State, County, or agency
  • At least one year of experience developing and conducting trainings
  • Bilingual ability in English and Spanish
