Department The Office of Research seeks to fill the Interdisciplinary Research and Commercialization Building (IRCB) Director position, for the IRCB which is slated to be completed in 2025.
Responsibilities This position will provide and supervise mechanical and electrical engineering and architectural services that support the IRCB community in the accomplishment of their missions. These services include the design of new mechanical equipment or spaces, renovations to existing equipment or spaces, review of proposal designs and project management required to complete these activities. Oversee space allocation. Will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of IRCB equipment within areas of responsibility. Areas of responsibility include all pumps, heat exchangers, chillers, air compressors, vacuum pumps, cooling towers, piping, vessels and tanks in the physical plant and mechanical equipment. Other equipment includes air handlers, ducting, fans, liquid nitrogen, storage, utility piping, plumbing, fire protection systems, and various electric systems. Assist in developing and maintaining partnership throughout the University to obtain project completion and goals. Serves as a member of the IRCB senior management team by participating in the development and ongoing analysis of IRCB policies and procedures. Interpret and apply federal, state, and local codes as they pertain to mechanical and electrical systems. Establish and apply policy related to the operation and maintenance of IRCB equipment. Responsible for overseeing all personnel working within the facility, including external contractors, FSU Facilities staff, and direct reports. Other duties as assigned related to the facility operations of the IRCB.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree and six years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and ten years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to ten years.)
Preferred Qualifications - A degree in Engineering or Building Management.
