- It is a condition of employment that all employees adhere faithfully to the requirements of the policy, as well as the safety rules, instruction and procedures issued in conjunction with it. - The Field Superintendent and Foreman have the full support of Management in enforcing the provisions of the policy as related to responsibilities assigned to them.
SUMMARY
- Fabricates high quality steel structures and parts under standards set forth by DEEM Structural Services, LLC.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Performs wire-welding operations on structural and architectural steel members including beams, columns, etc. Depending on grade, also performs layout and fit-up of product.
- Able to test for acceptable weldments
- Uses an oxygen/acetylene cutting torch to cut steel members.
- Monitors welding machines for any problems and performs adjustments as required. Informs supervisor of any serious welding equipment failures and potential safety problems.
- Depending on grade lays out material paying particular attention to detail and measurements.
- Performs metal forming operations using saws, drills, tube benders and punch machines, as required.
- Depending on grade operates stud welding machine.
- Communicates effectively with workers and other shop personnel.
- Meets welding certification requirements at Basden Steel.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities though welder's helper is to take direction from the welder.
SKILLS REQUIREDTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Able to perform non-precision wire welding in a structure steel fabrication shop at an acceptable rate and quality level.
- Must have an in depth understanding of layout and all fabrication and processing operations in assigned work area and be able to test the quality of his own weldments.
- Must be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings and seek clarification on any possible errors and omissions.
- Able to operate an oxygen/acetylene cutting torch.
- Able to use jigs, hand tools and measuring devises to product quality weldments
