Job Description:

Ironworker

  • Pay Rate: $43-$46/hour, depending on experience

  • Shift: 1st shift, 6:30 AM – 3 PM (maybe earlier start), OT available

  • Location: Lansing MI (near I-69)

  • Timing: Orientation on - Thurs, Oct 24 & First Day of work – Mon, Oct 28

Responsibilities of an Ironworker include:

  • Read blueprints: Understand project layouts and specifications
  • Cut and measure metal: Use cutting and welding equipment to cut metal to the correct dimensions
  • Install metal: Fabricate and install metal pieces into structural frameworks, such as columns and girders
  • Repair and replace: Fix or replace existing steel parts of buildings and other structures
  • Operate machinery: Use cranes and other machinery to move metal pieces into place
  • Maintain tools: Keep tools and equipment in good condition
  • Follow safety protocols: Adhere to industry and governmental safety regulations
  • Collaborate: Work with other construction team members

Ironworkers should also be able to:

  • Erect scaffolding and hoisting equipment
  • Signal crane operators to position steel units
  • Install ornamental metalwork, such as railings, curtain walls, and power doors
  • Examine structures and equipment for defects or deterioration
  • Dismantle structures and equipment

Ironworkers typically need to be physically strong and have stamina to lift heavy materials and work in various weather conditions. They should also be able to read and understand blueprints and technical documents.

Millwright

  • Pay Rate:$44.00-$48.50/hour, depending on experience

  • Shift: 1st shift, 6:30 AM – 3 PM (maybe earlier start), OT available

  • Location: Lansing MI (near I-69)

  • Timing: Orientation on - Thurs, Oct 24 & First Day of work – Mon, Oct 28

Responsibilities of a Millwright include:

  • Installation: Install heavy machinery and equipment
  • Maintenance: Maintain heavy machinery and equipment
  • Repair: Repair heavy machinery and equipment, including replacing worn or defective parts
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot industrial machinery and mechanical equipment
  • Relocation: Move or relocate heavy equipment or machinery on site or to a different site
  • Dismantling: Take apart entire machines by carefully dismantling, categorizing, and labeling the parts
  • Loading, transporting, and unloading: Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies
