Ironworker/Rigger/Piledriver (Full Time)

Location: Maine

IRONWORKER/RIGGER/PILE DRIVER

The Ironworker/Rigger/Pile Driver is able and responsible to perform a wide range of specific tasks that support ongoing construction activities on site. This position supports various crews and site supervisors by self-performing or helping with tasks as required daily.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Safely position and unite steel girders, columns, and other structural members to form completed structures or structural frameworks.

The ability to work with multiple types of piling and sheet templates and perform the driving of such.

Read specifications and blueprints to determine the locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.

Set up hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural steel members. Hoist steel beams, girders, and columns into place using cranes, using hand signals and tag lines.

Verify alignment and plumbing of steel structures and make corrections to erected structures as needed.

Connect columns, beams, and girders with bolts following blueprints using various bolts, nuts, washers and torquing.

Willingness to assist other crafts, carpentry, concrete, etc., when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Must have a minimum of 3 years experience with pile, layout, connecting and rigging.

Ability to work at all heights is a must.

Ability to read blueprints, interpret symbols and abbreviations on plans and drawings.

Prior rigging experience to include knowledge of hand signals, rigging gear, inspection, and proper use.

NCCER and NCCCO certification is a plus.

EXPERIENCE

Field construction experience in a wide range of activities

3-7 years of progressiveconstruction experience

Demonstrate a history of safe work practices

TECHNICAL

Ability to read and write

Understand basics, logic, and sequencing of putting specific work tasks in place

Understand crane setup, rigging, positioning, and operation

Knowledge in various construction methods and the proper use of construction equipment

Minimum of OSHA 30-hour training course

Certifications as a Qualified Signal Person and a Qualified Rigger

PERSONNEL

Work with and positively motivate crew members

Explain and demonstrate procedures of work to employees

MATERIALS

Communicate material requirements to the Foreman or Project Superintendent in a timely manner

Assist in receiving, inspecting and properly storing all site deliveries

EQUIPMENT

Able to operate equipment such as forklifts and manlifts

Communicate equipment requirements to the Foreman in a timely manner

Help ensure that equipment is used and maintained properly and safely, and operated by qualified personnel

SAFETY

Enforce job site safety with crew members

Participate in JSA (Job Safety Analysis) discussions
