Location: Lubbock,TX, USA
Operate and maintain irrigation systems for parks and athletic fields.
* Maintain and repair irrigation system and related components used in city parks;
* Operate test equipment to determine proper functioning of irrigation system;
* Evaluate condition of irrigation system, maintain records of system performance and maintenance;
* Lead the work and train less experienced workers in irrigation;maintenance;
* Maintain records of work performed;
* Modify park irrigation schedules to facilitate other parks and recreation activities;
* Serve on-call duty as required;
* Perform related duties as required.
Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent with an additional three years experience in irrigation and grounds maintenance work; or any combination or relevant education and experience which provides the following:
Physical Exam Required
Valid Current Commercial Driver's License
Knowledge of:
* Turf maintenance and renovation practices;
* Basic carpentry and painting;
* Basic plumbing related to repairs of irrigation piping, water supply piping and control valves;
* Basic electrical repair related to repairs/installations of irrigation valve wiring;
* Assembly and installation of back-flow prevention devices;
* Water pipe sizing;
* Precipitation rates of sprinklers;
* Function, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of irrigation system components.
Ability to:
* Read and write to comprehend instructions;
* Maintain records and prepare reports;
* Perform irrigation system maintenance, repairs, and installation;
* Operate a variety of equipment used in park irrigation maintenance;
* Recognize safety hazards, correct the hazard, or notify others of the hazard;
* Read and interpret irrigation plans;
* Adapt to changing situations.
Physical Requirements
* Continuously lift and carry up to 25 pounds;
* Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds;
* Occasionally lift and carry up to 100 pounds;
* Continuously walk and stand during the shift;
* Occasionally climb ladders, stairs and inclined surfaces;
* Frequently bend and kneel during the shift;
* Frequently push and pull objects;
* Occasionally flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially at the knees;
* Occasionally rotate upper trunk to the right or left while sitting or standing;
* Frequently reach above, at or below shoulder height;
* Coordinate eye, hand and foot movement in order to operate a vehicle or equipment.
