SUMMARY:

Maintains irrigation systems of Killeen Independent School District property.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Performs varied semi-skilled and skilled maintenance duties in the maintenance, repair, and construction of District irrigation systems; areas of responsibility, include, but are not limited to, installation, operation, maintenance, and inspection of irrigation systems.

Operates vehicles and a variety of tools and equipment used in irrigation installation and maintenance.

Inspects tools and equipment for safety and mechanical defects and ensures that they are in proper operating condition.

Assists with monitoring inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining purchase records within authorized budget.

Receives and responds to questions and concerns from campuses and staff; identifies issues and resolves problems or refers to supervisor as appropriate.

Follows safe working practices and makes appropriate use of related safety equipment as required.

Maintains records and logs.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Irrigation Maintenance Lead or Grounds Care Foreman.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Prior experience or training in irrigation maintenance preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must possess current driver's license.
