  • Performs troubleshooting and diagnostic maintenance on department irrigation systems to ensure they operate at optimum level.
  • Adjusts, installs and/or repairs irrigation heads, rotors, valves, valve boxes, controllers, PVC lines, etc.
  • Operates equipment, including dump truck, pickup truck, skid loader, backhoe, tractor, and trenching equipment.
  • Diagnoses and repairs low voltage electrical issues on both conventional and two wire systems.
  • Oversees the work of seasonal workers as assigned.
  • Conducts regular irrigation system inspections.
  • Assists Horticulturist with collection of department irrigation systems into the GIS inventory database.
  • Trains park employees in irrigation maintenance processes.
  • Works with supervisor to set and adjust watering schedules.
  • Assists Horticulture/Forestry crew with landscape maintenance duties which include, but not limited to, trimming, weeding, chemical applications, and planting.
  • Reviews project construction plans related to irrigation systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requires a High School Diploma or GED equivalent, supplemented with a minimum of three years of related experience working on irrigation systems; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Driver's License issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Physical Requirements Tasks involve the ability to exert exceptionally strong physical effort in very heavy work, typically involving some combination of balancing, climbing, crouching, feeling, handling, hearing, kneeling, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, walking and which involves some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 150 pounds).   • The City offers a 401(a) defined contribution retirement plan through the Oklahoma Municipal Retirement Fund (OMRF). The City contributes 10% of the employees' earnings into the plan. Employees become 20% vested after three years and vesting increases 20% for each additional year of service until 100% vesting is achieved at seven years. Employees may elect to contribute an additional amount.

Paid Leave
  • Vacation: One week of vacation is available after six months of employment. Thereafter, vacation is accrued monthly according to year of service.
    • Year 1 - 4: 10 days per year
    • Year 5 - 9: 15 days per year
    • Year 10 - 14: 20 days per year
    • Year 15 - 19: 22 days per year
    • 20 years +: 25 days per year
  • Holidays: Twelve paid holidays, plus one floating holiday each year.
  • Sick: Eight hours per month up to maximum of 1,040 hours (130 working days).
