The IT Coordinator is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the IT department, including coordinating projects, maintaining IT assets, and providing administrative and technical support to ensure smooth functioning of IT services across the organization. This role acts as a liaison between the IT team and other departments, helping to manage requests, track IT tasks, and ensure efficient communication and resolution of technical issues. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, has strong organizational skills, and can manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. This is a hybrid role and will require work on site on Mondays and Tuesdays in Great Neck.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and coordinating IT projects, including software upgrades, network improvements, and equipment deployments.
- Document project progress and status updates, communicating milestones and project risks to stakeholders.
- Maintain and update records of IT equipment, software licenses, and assets, ensuring accurate inventory management.
- Track the lifecycle of IT assets, including procurement, maintenance, and disposal, to optimize resource usage.
- Act as the first point of contact for IT-related inquiries, routing support requests to the appropriate team members.
- Prioritize and assign tickets, ensuring efficient handling of support requests and timely resolution.
- Collaborate with the Managed Services Provider to address recurring technical issues and improve support processes.
- Coordinate the setup of IT equipment, accounts, and software for new employees, ensuring a seamless onboarding experience.
- Document IT procedures, policies, and best practices, ensuring up-to-date resources are available to the IT team and end-users.
- Generate regular reports on IT activities, including support metrics, asset inventory, and project status updates.
- Maintain and organize IT records, contracts, and documentation for easy reference and audit readiness.
- Coordinate with vendors for IT services and equipment, tracking invoices and maintaining vendor relationships.
- Assist the IT manager in monitoring the IT budget, ensuring costs are within allocated limits and reporting on expenditures.
- Support periodic audits and assessments, gathering data and coordinating with relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of experience in IT support, coordination, or administrative role in a technology-driven environment.
- Proficiency with common MS office applications and services (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Azure) and familiarity with IT systems monitoring, management, and ticketing software.
- Excellent organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with IT asset management and project coordination.
- Familiarity with helpdesk ticketing systems (e.g., Zendesk, ServiceNow) and IT documentation tools.
- Basic knowledge of networking, hardware, and software troubleshooting.
- IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, ITIL Foundation) are a plus.
Work Environment: This job operates in a professional environment. This role is expected to drive to and from office locations throughout the assigned area and use standard office equipment.
