As an IT Engineer, you'll embody this approach while completing a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, configuring network security, overseeing computer usage, and troubleshooting malfunctions.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Network and Computer Systems

  • Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments including computer hardware, systems software and applications
  • Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems.
  • Configure, monitor, and maintain email applications or virus protection software.
  • Operate master consoles to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, and to coordinate computer network access and use.

User Support

  • Respond to, resolve, and document IT support tickets.
  • Answer user inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operation to resolve problems.
  • Oversee performance of computer systems.
  • Read technical manuals, confer with users, or conduct computer diagnostics to resolve problems or provide additional technical support.
  • Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems or appropriate software.
  • Develop training materials and procedures, and personally train users in the proper use of hardware or software.
  • Maintain security patches and software updates on computers.
  • Repair and/or replace computer components, company phones, and mobile devices.

Network Support

  • Back up network data.
  • Configure security settings or access permissions for groups or individuals.
  • Document network support activities.

Computer Systems Analytics

  • Test, maintain and monitor computer programs and systems, including coordinating the installation of computer programs and systems.
  • Troubleshoot program and system malfunctions to restore normal functionality.
  • Consult with management to ensure agreement on system principles.

Other tasks as assigned by the IT director.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of Windows Server 2016+, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Azure and Entra AD, Hyper-V clustering and VMware vSphere, cloud based phone systems, and Office 365 administration.
  • Preferred software and systems experience: Veeam, Auvik, Confluence, Microsoft Defender, SonicWall, GoTo Connect, Dell and IBM storage,
  • General security principles such as endpoint protection, O365 and cloud application protection, SSO, SAML, and SCIM.
  • Network monitoring and alerting, troubleshooting and remediation
  • Create and maintain IT environment documentation.
  • Ability to break down complex technical terminology to simple, easy to understand information.
  • Ability to recognize potential problems using critical thinking skills.
  • Able to identify complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Inductive and deductive reasoning.
  • Active learner and listener.
  • Interpersonal skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or technical training equivalent is preferred.
  • Must have at least five years of experience.
