Job Description:

The IT Help Desk Technician, maintains, and enhances the company's hardware and software systems and assists in all duties relating to Information Technology.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Information Systems.

* Any other equivalent combination of training and experience.

* Ability to apply knowledge of network concepts, techniques, and principles.

* At least two years prior network or systems experience, preferred.

* Knowledge of computing and network hardware and peripheral equipment.

* Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.

* Ability to install, configure, and maintain personal computers, networks, and related hardware and software.

* Ability to identify and resolve computer system malfunctions and operational problems.

* Ability to provide technical training to end users.

* Ability to learn and support new systems and applications.

* Sense of urgency to complete the task at hand.

Responsibilities:

* Assists in documenting, maintaining, and enhancing existing DMP hardware systems including but not limited to:

* Local Area Network routers, cabling, and Network workstations.

* All network connected and stand-alone laptops and PCs.

* All Printers and fax machines.

* Intertel phone system.

* Assists in administering user and operational databases for:

* DMP company email accounts.

* User network rights and security.

* Intertel phone system including voice mail.

* Assists in evaluating and/or recommending purchases of computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software.

* Assists in investigating user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions.

* Assists in maintaining site licenses for department/organization.

* Assists in maintaining backup/restore & disaster recovery preparedness.

* Assists in planning and implementing network security, including building firewalls, applying cryptography to network applications, managing host security, file permissions, backup and disaster recovery plans, file system integrity, and adding and deleting users.

* Troubleshoots networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.

* Assists in maintaining and updating company websites and web applications.

* Develops and conducts various training and instruction for system users on operating systems, relational databases, and other applications; assists users in maximizing use of networks and computing systems.

* Anticipates communication and networking problems and implement preventive measures.

* Ensures timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability.

* Investigates, recommends and installs enhancements and operating procedures that optimize network availability.
