Job Description:
Summary At its core, this is a general IT support role. The Junior Sysadmin will work with and report directly to the Information Technology Director and Systems Administrator to ensure business continuity across the automotive group. The ideal candidate will work to support all end-users of widely varying technical skill with patience. They will acknowledge gaps in their own technical abilities and pursue solutions with minimal oversight. This is an entry-level, full-time position. Responsibilities
  • Support end-users in all general technical requests
  • Maintain hardware systems with limited break/fix troubleshooting ability
  • Complete proactive maintenance tasks to reduce potential downtime
  • Familiarize self with proprietary systems specific to this industry
  • Limited networking support and maintenance
  • Documentation of common tasks
  • Configure and deploy new systems and initiatives
  • Continually prioritize multiple tasks based on need and urgency
  • Research and develop efficient solutions to support infrastructure expansion
  • Work in various environments ranging from corporate offices to service shops
  • Set and communicate expectations to end-users on solution timeframes
  • Troubleshoot limited printer failures and operations
  • Lift and transport computer and peripheral equipment
Qualifications & SkillsRequired:
  • Willing to submit to a pre-employment background check & drug screen
  • Willing to submit to a computer literacy and aptitude test
  • Basic understanding of internal PC components and architectures
  • Proficiency with administrative tasks in Windows-based systems
  • Experience in general technology troubleshooting
  • High-school Diploma required
  • Demonstrated patience in stressful situations
  • Ability to explain inherently complex issues in simple terms to end-users
  • Friendly demeanor and humility
  • Ability to search for and retrieve solutions to unfamiliar issues in a timely manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ideal, but not required:
  • Previous automotive industry IT experience
  • Proficiency with PuTTY, SSH, Telnet, CLI
  • Relevant technical certifications (A+, Network+, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Cisco or other network device programming over CLI or GUI
  • Bachelors in Computer Science or related field
  • Prior experience as a Junior Sysadmin or IT Helpdesk role
  • Experience in running and terminating data or voice lines to industry spec
  • Basic familiarity with virtualized infrastructures and backups (hypervisors, VMWare, Nakivo)
  • Experience with domain administration, active directory deployment, and Windows Server.
