JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Hotel IT Manager is responsible for overseeing the installation, management, and maintenance of the hotel's technology infrastructure, including network systems, hardware, software, and telecommunications. This role ensures that all IT systems run efficiently to support hotel operations, guest services, and administrative functions. The IT Manager will also work to enhance the digital experience for guests, ensuring seamless access to services such as Wi-Fi, guest management systems, in-room technology, and security systems.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • IT Systems Management:
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of the hotel's IT systems, including property management systems (PMS), point of sale (POS) systems, booking engines, and other essential software platforms.
  • Manage the hotels network infrastructure, ensuring connectivity, security, and efficient data flow across the property.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve IT-related issues, ensuring minimal disruption to hotel operations.
  • Guest Technology Services:
  • Manage guest-facing technologies, including Wi-Fi, in-room entertainment systems, mobile check-in/check-out systems, and other digital services.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure that guest-facing digital content (such as websites and mobile apps) is up-to-date and user-friendly.
  • Ensure guest data privacy and comply with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS) regarding all digital interactions.
  • Staff Training and Support:
  • Provide technical support and training to hotel staff, ensuring they are proficient in using hotel management systems, software, and devices.
  • Develop and update user manuals and training materials for staff members to ensure efficient use of IT systems.
  • Security & Data Protection:
  • Implement and monitor security protocols to protect sensitive information, including guest data, financial records, and internal communications.
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and address potential risks.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant data protection laws and industry standards.
  • Vendor Management:
  • Manage relationships with third-party technology vendors, service providers, and consultants.
  • Evaluate and recommend new hardware, software, or technology services to improve hotel operations or enhance the guest experience.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage the procurement of IT equipment and services within budget.
  • Technology Integration and Upgrades:
  • Coordinate the installation, configuration, and upgrade of software, hardware, and IT infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and support of evolving hotel needs.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in the hospitality industry to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Budgeting & Reporting:
  • Prepare and manage the IT department budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.
  • Provide regular reports on IT system performance, issues, upgrades, and projects to hotel leadership.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 57 years of experience in IT management, preferably in the hospitality or service industry.
  • Proven experience managing IT infrastructure, networks, and hotel management systems.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel for budgeting, experience with formulas and formatting
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI or Tableau
  • Familiarity with reporting from various hospitality and financial platforms
  • Strong understanding of hotel technology systems, including property management systems (PMS), point of sale (POS) systems, reservations, and booking software.
  • Expertise in network configuration, security management, and IT troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with guest-facing technologies such as Wi-Fi management, in-room entertainment systems, and mobile check-in/check-out systems.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to train and support staff at all levels.
  • Project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Full-time position with potential for after-hours work, depending on the needs of the hotel.
  • Occasional travel for training or vendor meetings may be required.
  • May be required to work evenings, weekends, or holidays based on operational needs.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Capability to lift, carry, and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, such as servers, computer monitors, and network devices.
  • Manual dexterity to handle small computer components and cables.
  • Capacity to climb ladders or step stools and work in confined spaces, such as server rooms or behind equipment.
  • Visual acuity to read small fonts, technical manuals, and screens.
  • Ability to occasionally work outside or in areas with fluctuating temperatures, such as the marina.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to respond to urgent technical issues
