Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Network Planning Supervisor that will oversee and provide network design services that meet or exceed the needs of a telecommunications company.
This well-rounded technical leader will be responsible for managing network planning and capacity to ensure that the organization's network resources are used effectively. Responsible for supervising day-to-day activities and projects. Serve as escalation support for complex troubles or orders. Provide scheduled updates to Management for network health and reliability.
- 25% Supervises planning, design, evaluation, and optimization of core network services.
- 20% Manage day-to-day activities of Network Planning.
- 20% Manage all deliverables, schedules, and costs for all Network Planning projects.
- 15% Provide technical training for departments within the company.
- 10% Serve as an escalation for complex troubles and orders.
- 10% Other duties as directed by management.
Requirements:
- Education: 2-year College degree in a related field and 6-8 years of professional level experience; or 4-year College degree in a related field and 4-6 years of professional level related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and professional level related experience.
- Special Training or Competence: Associate IT Certification required (i.e. minimum of CCNA, preferred CCNP) or must be obtained within 365 days of the start date.
- Physical Requirements: Standing, walking, sitting, keyboarding, lifting 50lbs or more, climbing (ladders), crawling, stooping, speaking (English), hearing, seeing (color).
- Clean driving record. Excellent communication skills. Demonstrated willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
Required/Desired skills:
- CCNA (minimum, CCNP preferred) with 5-10 years of experience in large IP network design, deployment, and operation.
- Extensive and demonstrated knowledge of routers and switches, LAN/WANs, Metro Ethernet, MPLS, Frame-Relay, PC and client/server networking, firewall administration, cable modem plant, IP/ATM routing and switching, ADSL, SONET, FTTP, SIP, VoDSL and IPTV.
- In-depth understanding of IP networking and traffic engineering including routing protocols (BGP, MP-BGP, OSPF, RSVP, RIP, etc.), and advanced networking technologies, MPLS, VPN, etc.
- In-depth understanding of IP network QoS techniques (DiffServ, RSVP, Queuing, Traffic Policing/Shaping) and deployment practice in large networks.
- In-depth understanding of Virtualization and Server OS which includes but is not limited to VMware, Citrix XenServer, Windows Server, Red Hat, and Ubuntu.
- Strong leadership skills, including coaching, team building, and conflict resolution.
- Strong project management skills including time and risk management, resource prioritization, and project structuring.
- Strong communication skills ( eg. Written, verbal, presentation). Self-motivated.
