Job Description The IT Operations Officer is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the bank's IT infrastructure, ensuring the smooth and secure functioning of all IT systems, networks, and services. The role involves ensuring system uptime, supporting technology deployments, and managing IT incidents, performance, and compliance within the bank's digital environment. The IT Operations Officer will collaborate closely with other departments to ensure the IT systems meet business needs while maintaining the highest standards of security, efficiency, and reliability. Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management: - Oversee the day-to-day operations of the bank's IT systems, including servers, networks, databases, and applications.
- Monitor system performance and ensure timely and effective resolution of issues, minimizing system downtime.
- Ensure the timely installation, configuration, and deployment of hardware and software updates or upgrades.
Incident Management: - Manage IT incidents, including system outages, security breaches, and hardware failures, ensuring swift resolution and minimal business impact.
- Collaborate with the IT support team to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain a detailed log of incidents, troubleshooting steps, and outcomes for future reference and continuous improvement.
System Monitoring & Maintenance: - Proactively monitor IT infrastructure, including network traffic, system logs, and performance metrics, to detect potential issues before they impact operations.
- Perform regular system checks and maintenance to ensure compliance with internal and external standards, including regulatory and security requirements.
- Coordinate backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity testing to ensure data integrity and minimal downtime during emergencies.
Security & Compliance: - Implement and enforce IT security policies and procedures to safeguard the bank's digital assets, data, and information systems.
- Stay informed on current cyber threats and industry best practices to mitigate risks and ensure regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS, etc.).
- Work with the security team to conduct vulnerability assessments and implement security patches.
Collaboration & Coordination: - Work with various departments (e.g., Risk, Finance, Operations, and Compliance) to understand IT needs and ensure proper IT support.
- Provide technical guidance to other staff members and assist in troubleshooting issues related to IT operations.
- Collaborate with vendors, third-party service providers, and external IT teams to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Documentation & Reporting: - Maintain up-to-date documentation on IT infrastructure, system configurations, and operational procedures.
- Prepare regular reports on system performance, incident resolutions, and compliance status for management review.
- Document lessons learned from incidents and suggest improvements to IT operational processes.
Project Support: - Assist in the planning, execution, and deployment of new IT projects, system upgrades, and process improvements.
- Coordinate with project managers and technical teams to ensure that IT projects align with operational requirements and meet delivery deadlines.
User Support & Training: - Provide support and troubleshooting for internal users experiencing IT-related issues.
- Conduct training sessions for staff on IT systems, security practices, and software tools to enhance overall operational efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Professional certifications such as ITIL, CompTIA Network+, or Cisco certifications are a plus.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in IT operations, preferably within the banking or financial services sector.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, including servers, databases, and networking.
- Experience with monitoring tools, incident management, and system troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with security protocols, firewalls, encryption, and security best practices.
- Proficiency in operating systems (Windows, Linux) and databases (SQL, Oracle, etc.).
- Knowledge of cloud computing and virtualization technologies.
