ITCS, through innovative information technology initiatives and service, provides opportunities for the ECU community to excel in teaching, research, and service using state-of-the-market technology and collaborative environments. ITCS is first and foremost committed to providing excellent information technology support for faculty, staff, and students. ITCS partners with campus departments, other universities, and industry to make strategic investments in information technology infrastructure that will help maintain a competitive advantage in administrative applications, faculty research, and outreach to the state and nation. We will achieve this through increasing the core functions and deploying appropriate technology throughout the university. The Data Center Operations team provides 24O7 monitoring and support for the Data Center environment (including cooling, power, and fire suppression) and critical I.T. Infrastructure (including servers and on line services). The team is also responsible for the installation and asset tracking of physical hardware in the Data Center.Job Duties * Monitor data center infrastructure including chillers, air/water flow systems, air conditioning, water alarm, fire alarm, security panels, generators, UPS, etc. * Monitor enterprise systems servers, storage, applications, and networking services and escalate for higher level support when needed. * Assisting customers by answering help desk calls, entering help desk tickets, or interacting with facilities staff, vendors, programmers, or system administrators as customers experience difficulties with connections, accounts or services provided. * Installing and deinstalling I.T. equipment. * Provide after-hours onsite support for Data Center, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Employees are required to adjust their standard work schedule to meet the requirements of their position, which includes and not limited to evening and weekend hours to perform scheduled and unscheduled workload requirements to maintain University operations.This position has been designated by the University as critical to University operations and is considered Mandatory.Minimum Education/Experience High School or General Educational Development diploma and six months of experience. Equivalent coursework in computer operations or information technology from a technical school or community college may be substituted for the required experience. Journey level requires an additional 6 months of education or experience.License or Certification required by statute or regulation NonePreferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education IT related certifications including Microsoft, Oracle, Network +, CISCO, and others are preferred.Experience in the Data Center field of work including, systems administration, electrical and HVAC functional knowledge and cable maintenance/installation is desired.
