HITS also provides institutional expertise related to IT strategy, security, infrastructure, and resource management.Division OverviewThe HITS Project Management Office (PMO) initiates and executes key IT initiatives across Michigan Medicine through project and program management services tailored to patient care, education, research, or IT infrastructure.Job Summary The primary responsibility in this job is to manage large, cross-team projects in the clinical domain focused on information technology modernization (e.g. automation, identification and implementation of new IT systems, applications, and integrations). The goal is to complete projects on time, within budget, and with the high level of quality our customers expect from Health Information Technology and Services (HITS), while supporting and advancing organizational change.The position reports directly to the Manager of the Project Management Office within the Office of the CIO. There are no direct reports for this position.Responsibilities* Align project with organizational goals to create a strategic project management plan including choice of project management methodology, communications around expectations, milestones and deliverables.Manage projects from initiation to closing by performing all project management functions at a high level of excellence, for example: Track complex sets of interrelated tasks across the enterprise.Monitor risks and issues with escalation to leadership when needed.Collaborate with team managers to resource the project and monitor project resources.Coordinate requirements gathering, documentation and testing.Engage with stakeholders to define and generate project deliverables.Create presentations and status reports for a variety of audiences.Create and manage project artifacts consistent with the methodology chosen (sprint plans, stories, project schedules, status reports, task lists, training plans, activation plans, etc.).Identify the organizational changes needed to deliver successfully on the project goals and manage the creation and execution of an organizational change management plan.Establish project governance and communicate proactively with project sponsors and advisory groups, keeping them informed of project status and escalating decisions and issues when needed.Develop and manage a complex set of stakeholder relationships, presenting and working directly with executive leadership as needed.Facilitate a variety of meetings (such as cross-team project meetings, governance meetings, leadership updates etc.) and communicate promptly and clearly on meeting agendas, decisions, and action items.Coordinate all go-live activities in collaboration with technical and operational partners (training, command centers, at-the-elbow support, dry-runs, roll-back plans, etc.)Coordinate responsibilities for project planning and execution with vendor and operational project managers when needed.Maintain project transparency by regularly updating project work in enterprise project management tools.Required Qualifications* Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience5+ years of professional experience2-3 years of professional experienceDesired Qualifications* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, e.g., Business, Engineering, Information Technology, Health Sciences.5 or more years of progressive management experience or project management or equivalent combination of education and experience, including: demonstrated experience leading large multi-team, multi-year projects;demonstrated experience with waterfall, agile and hybrid project management methodologies;practical experience supporting Epic or other ancillary, clinical, and revenue cycle applications.General knowledge of clinical care and revenue cycle objectives aligned with IT applications, interoperability, regulatory standards, and business processes.General knowledge of the complex technical environment of a large academic medical center (on-premise and cloud infrastructure, applications, integrations, emerging technologies).Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with diverse audiences and stakeholders, such as leadership, end-users, non-technical subject matter experts, technical team members, etc.Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills in situations where available information might be limited.Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and flexibility.Comfortable creating project artifacts in a variety of enterprise project management tools such as Microsoft Project, ServiceNow, or others.Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Scrum Master certification. (Note: a candidate without at least one of these certifications must commit to obtaining it within 18 months of hire).Epic implementation experience.Work Locations This position is being offered as a Hybrid position. There will be times when it will be appropriate for you to work from home. There will be other times that you will be required to work onsite for meetings, planning sessions, or go-live support.
