Overview:

Must be a US Citizen Ongoing position W2 with Full Benefit

Location - NOAA NWS OBS; 1325 East West Highway, Silver Spring, MD 20910

Position is hybrid-- 3 days/wk on-site.

Salary Range - $90-98K

Provide IT Security Specialist III support to meet customer requirements.

Responsibilities:

Analyzes information security systems and applications and recommends and develops security measures to protect information against unauthorized modification or loss. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. Typically reports to a project leader or manager. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Qualifications:

• BS/BA degree in a related area (or equivalent), and 4 to 6 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Has knowledge around documentation requirements for yearly audits.
• Has worked closely with a system to get an ATO
• Understands security concepts and risk mitigation
• Has performed an active role in Audit's and artifact collection.
• Has excellent communication skills.
• Preferred experience with SSP rev 4 and rev 5, more specifically with the differences between these.
• Has experience with scanning systems and the use of a variety of tools including Nessus. More specifically how to categorize and report on vulnerabilities from the findings
• Has written disaster recovery plans for System Owners
• Has created risk assessment reports. (RARs).
• Can ensure compliance with NIST, and FISMA. Also has experience managing STIGs
