How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)Delta Air Lines has an opportunity for a Senior Developer to work on its mainframe software application development for the travel, airline and reservation industry. In a dynamic, fast paced environment the IBM zTPF operating system is the central hub for all operations of Delta Air lines, and with your technical experience and ability to engage customers you can help contribute to the ongoing transformation. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES IN THIS ROLEResponsible for participating in the development, maintenance, enhancement, and support of applicationsUnderstand business requirements in order to provide the technical design of computer softwarePossess programming expertise in C++, BAL, and Sabretalk for the zTPF environment in order to develop and maintain computer softwareDevelop appropriate software and documentation according to Delta standardsSupport and troubleshoot computer systems as required, optimizing performance, resolving problems, and providing timely follow up on all problemsFollow Delta standards and methodologies in the development and implementation of computer software. Must be able to perform our entire software development lifecycleWorks/Consults across multiple projects; functions as an informal leaderWorks on complex projects that require subject matter expertiseResponsible for providing hands on expert level assistance to junior developers for technical issues.Practices safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and proceduresWhat you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)Working experience and knowledge of TPFDF and ZTPFGI/test/debugKnowledge of escalation methods and effective communication with our development and testing resources for issues and new enhancements.Be comfortable interfacing and engaging with customers, defining their requirements and effectively translating their needs to business and technical documents, maximizing customer satisfaction Excellent analytical, technology, communication, decision making and problem solving skillsWorking knowledge of Delta's TPF test environments and the interaction with the rest of the IT landscape.Experience leading/mentoring junior developersOrganized with an ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and utilize time effectivelyMust have the ability to transform business and functional requirements into technical solutions5 or more years of experience working in TPF Airline Reservations and/or TPF Airline Operations application development.Must be proficient in Error/Dump AnalysisHigh School Diploma, GED or High School Equivalency Embraces Diverse people, thinking and styles Consistently makes safety and security, of self and others, the priorityConsistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data. Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles. Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency. Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)Ideally you will have a background in the Airline industryMust be able to prioritize work on multiple project teams, with the overall goal of satisfying all deployment needs and effectively supporting diverse clientsAttend meetings with the tool providers and communicate effectively with our tool providersPerform quality tests of newly released tool enhancements and interact with tool providers with suggestions. Effectively communicate any issues during quality testingFamiliarity with Delta Change Policies and integration of DevOps to the RFC processBe passionate about high quality software deliveryAssist in delivering constant improvement to business processesAssist in improvement and streamlining of Delta's development processesDelta Air Lines develops both strategic and tactical plans that create a safety-conscious environment resulting in employee safety and well-being.Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training in the TPF application development field.
