Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT Specialist to join our team as a contractor and provide support to the United States Air Force. As an IT Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Air Force's information technology systems and networks. You will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing various IT systems, as well as providing technical support to Air Force personnel. This position requires a deep understanding of IT principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: System Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Perform regular maintenance tasks, including software updates, system patches, and hardware upgrades, to ensure optimal performance of IT systems. Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity, escalating complex problems to appropriate channels when necessary. Conduct thorough system testing to identify and resolve any potential vulnerabilities or security breaches. Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and recommend solutions to optimize efficiency. Network Infrastructure Management: Configure, install, and maintain network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and access points, adhering to Air Force security protocols and standards. Monitor network traffic, analyze data, and implement necessary security measures to protect against unauthorized access and potential threats. Collaborate with network administrators to ensure seamless connectivity and troubleshoot connectivity issues. Technical Support and Training: Provide technical assistance to Air Force personnel, including troubleshooting hardware and software problems, resolving connectivity issues, and assisting with user account management. Develop and deliver training programs and documentation to educate Air Force personnel on proper IT practices, security protocols, and system usage. Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, and proactively share knowledge with the Air Force team to enhance their technical skills and capabilities. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of system configurations, network diagrams, and IT assets to facilitate efficient troubleshooting and system recovery. Generate reports on system performance, security incidents, and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with Air Force regulations and standards. Collaborate with Air Force personnel and other contractors to gather requirements, document processes, and contribute to the development of IT policies and procedures. Job Requirements Qualifications: Top Secret/SCI Clearance or an ability to obtain one. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Strong knowledge of IT systems, networks, hardware, and software, with a focus on Microsoft Windows operating systems and Cisco networking equipment. Demonstrated experience in system administration, network administration, and troubleshooting in an enterprise environment. Familiarity with Air Force IT policies, guidelines, and security standards is highly desirable. Professional certifications such as CompTIA A, Network, Security, Cisco CCNA, or Microsoft certifications are a plus. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with Air Force personnel at all levels.
