This position is also responsible to set global guidelines for operational services working together with the internal Service Operations team and external service providers.
This involves consulting and working together in technology areas to design and build technical structures based on existing standards and processes that meet the strategic needs of the business and integrate with other business and IT processes.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Installation and configuration of data protection server software and associated components
* Setting up data deduplication disk pools and tape backup devices
* Establishing replication between locations
* Develop and implement automated solutions to support operational and SLA objectives.
* Respond quickly and effectively to backup issues and outages
* Strong documentation skills along with the ability to train junior level personnel on day-to-day data backup tasks
* Creation of reports for management
* Provide technical leadership to more junior team members
* Has experience working in a large storage environment with formal change management practices
* Experience with Veeam Backup, Networker and Nasuni preferred
* Experience with Data Domain and Unity zoning required
* Experience with Netapp, EMC and Synology arrays preferred
* Must be detail-oriented with good organization skills
* Excellent troubleshooting skills
* Additional knowledge in Backup software is desirable.
* Knowledge of encryption of the Backup environment preferred
Core Competencies and Requirements
Education
* Bachelor's degree in IT engineering or science related field, or equivalent qualification
* Excellent understanding of complex enterprise IT Infrastructure landscapes.
* Deep technical expertise and understanding of underlying business processes and systems.
Work Experience
* 5+ years of working in IT infrastructure roles.
* 2+ years of experience in IT Storage & Backup.
* Experience of working with multiple third-party vendors, strong customer focus.
* Work experience in a large multinational, matrix structured company.
* Ability to communicate and cooperate with multi-national teams.
* Ability to give guidelines and monitor the job of L2 support team.
Technical / Language Skills
* Hands-on experience with the installation and configuration of Enterprise Class Data Protection infrastructures
* Veeam Backup, Networker, Apex - Mid-Level of Proficiency
* Netapp, EMC and Synology storage arrays - Mid-Level of Proficiency
* Fluent English speaker
Core Competencies Required
* Deep Understanding of Operating systems and associated infra-architectural considerations
* Familiar with Load Balancers, Firewalls, iptables, Linux IPVS, HA Proxy
* Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining services such as VMware
* Nasuni Storage Administration
* Dell Apex Backup Administration and Management
* Knowledge of ITIL v3 / v4 processes - Nice to have.
* Understanding of key infrastructure technologies and associated architectural considerations.
