Housing is seeking (1) IT Systems Administrator to join the already awesome team taking the department to the next level of excellence! The Database Administrative (Housing Systems) reports to the Housing Department IT Manager, and will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, support, training and security of departments primary Housing System, which include StarRez Resident and Property Management software, TMA Maintenance and Custodial Management software, and other related systems. The Database Administrative (Housing Systems) will be the primary liaison with our business unit clients, admin and end-users and other institutional stakeholders and IIT staff, providing customization and integration support and insuring the successful operation of these systems. WHAT MAKES The Housing Department A GREAT PLACE? •A flexible work environment •Generous benefits, including health, dental, vision, tuition assistance, retirement, etc. •A knowledge-sharing organization that works collaboratively with diverse partners. •Professional development opportunity and mentorship •A rapidly growing center within an academic setting HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO •Serve as the StarRez Housing System database administrator responsible for testing of all its related modules and serving as the primary liaison to the StarRez Account Manager at StarRez Inc.. •Meet with decision makers, system owners and end users to define business functionality, and end-user operations requirements and outcomes, and identify and resolve systems and business process issues. •Lead team review and planning sessions for full use and deployment of systems at key events such as seasonal opening and closing, summer transitions, etc.. •Evaluate future needs and developments in order to determine whether internal resources or external consultants are required for successful implementation, and work with Senior team to implement necessary contracts. •Serve as Systems Administrator with a primary responsibility and focus on Housing residential management system StarRez, and related components. •Play a lead role in the StarRez Housing Portal migration from legacy portal to StarRez PortalX. This project will involve detailed coordination and timing between the vendor StarRez and multiple third-party systems. •Perform general system maintenance and support. •Assists IT team in evaluating, planning, installing, upgrading and maintaining hardware, software and peripherals for all Housing team members. •Creates, updates, and provides documentation of all technical operational processes for Auxiliary Services units with a primary focus on Housing. •Assist Housing IT and other staff with projects, desktop support and user support as well as the PC replacement program. •Maintain system security including regularly scheduled audits of system access. •Facilitate training on departmental software not limited to StarRez, TMA, CCURE 9000, Genetec Security Desk, etc. •Responsible for the management of security groups and related roles, as they relate to accessing system content. •In cooperation with IT team members (IT Manager; PC Systems Coordinator, GA's), be on call for critical periods such as opening, closing, major upgrades, and other emergencies and scheduled events. •Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum Hiring Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience. Preferred Hiring Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of core Housing systems, particularly StarRez, eRezLife, and TMA Maintenance solutions.
  • Significant experience implementing and troubleshooting web-based applications.
  • Proven experience in overseeing the design, development and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products.
  • Training and experience in website design and server-based programming including HTML, JavaScript, CSS, PHP and XML.
  • Experience with or knowledge of hypervisor (VmWare and Microsoft Hyper V);
    • An understanding of networking technologies and their interaction with web-based applications.
    • Practical knowledge in importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flow charts.
    • Demonstrated project management skills.
    • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
    • Highly self-motivated and directed.
    • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
