Job Summary

Metals USA is seeking an Inside Sales Manager in Ambridge, PA. The Inside Sales Manager is responsible for the development and performance of all sales activities in an assigned market. Will staff and direct a sales team and provide leadership toward the achievement of maximum profitability and growth in line with Metals USA's vision and values. Metals USA is a solid, growth oriented, carbon steel (plate, beam and tube) distribution center servicing the defense, commercial, construction, aerospace and fabrication industries.

Job Function

  • Develops and implements strategic sales plans to drive growth in revenue and profitability consistent with goals.
  • Initiates and coordinates development of sales plans to penetrate new markets.
  • Provides timely, accurate, competitive pricing for proposals submitted for approval while striving to maintain maximum profit margin.
  • Develops and coordinates the performance of Sales Representatives. Assists Sales Representatives with the preparation of proposals.
  • Ensures that Sales Representatives meet or exceed activity standards for prospects, proposals and closes.
  • Responsible for managing sales and marketing activities of the organization and overseeing the daily activities of inside sales personnel.
  • Coordinates sales distribution by establishing sales territories and goals.
  • Develops goals for sales representatives and established account representation for sales territories.
  • Initiates and coordinates development of action plans to penetrate new markets.
  • Analyzes sales statistics to formulate policy and assists in promoting sales.
  • Analyzes current market conditions and trends to determine pricing levels needed to achieve sales/profit goals and forecasts.
  • Serves as liaison between sales and other sales related organizations, including but not limited to Purchasing, Operations, Management, etc.
  • Prepares periodic sales reports showing sales volume.
  • Assists management in preparation of annual sales report.
  • Develops and promotes feedback mechanisms for customers to influence the continuous improvement of operations and/or production.
  • Leads, coaches, and mentors a team of inside sales professionals while managing resource allocation and staffing.
  • Assists with inventory management and developing inventory levels based on current market forecasts.
  • Oversees customer rejections and complaints until they are resolved.
  • Assists with Outside Sales when necessary.
  • Responsible for adhering to safety processes and protocols.
  • All other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.

Physical Demands:

Occupation requires being sedentary less than or equal to 75% of the time (< 6 hours per day).

  • Stand, walk, sit, hearing, talking, use of hands and fingers, hand-eye coordination, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat or kneel or bend
  • Regularly required to work on multiple concurrent tasks with constant interruptions.
  • Lift, carry, push and/or pull up to a maximum of 25 lbs., without assistance.
  • Travel required; both vehicle and air Work Environment: May be exposed to some of the following working conditions.
  • Position works primarily in an office/cubicle environment; however will be required to travel with Outside Sales Representatives
  • Sales presentations via one-on-one/ conference presentations with primary decision-maker(s)
  • Constant Telephone Activity; high comfort level of initiating conversation
  • Constant work environment change depending upon phone activity or customer face-to-face visits
  • Quiet to moderate noise levels

Work Environment:

May be exposed to some of the following working conditions.

  • Position works primarily in an office/cubicle environment; however will be required to travel with Outside Sales Representatives
  • Sales presentations via one-on-one/ conference presentations with primary decision-maker(s)
  • Constant Telephone Activity; high comfort level of initiating conversation
  • Constant work environment change depending upon phone activity or customer face-to-face visits
  • Quiet to moderate noise levels

Required Skills

  • 5 - 7 years of industrial sales or customer management experience; preferably in structural steel/ fabrication
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Construction Management or related field is a plus
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services required.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service required.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective processing and distribution of material required.
  • Knowledge of company product(s) and their uses required.
  • Knowledge of the metals industry required.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills required.
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including analysis, knowledge and experience, and judgment required.
  • Ability to initiate and maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers and customers required.
  • Strong computer proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft applications and/or reporting software required.

Metals USA offers a competitive starting base salary range of: $ 70,000 - $ 85,000 with commission potential.
