Essential Functions
* Performs professional accounting work involving the maintenance of Department funds and the preparation of related financial reports and statements.
* Utilizes the Agency accounting system to audit vouchers generated by the Veterans Home Fiscal staff for compliance with State statutes, rules, and Comptroller Office rules and policies.
* Establishes and maintains adequate, current accounting and control systems.
* Reviews and verifies Locally Held Fund receipt lists for accuracy.
* Responds to inquiries from auditors, family member's, inspection teams, etc. regarding Trust Fund transactions, policies, and procedures in courteous, professional manner, while maintaining legal and confidentiality requirements.
* Audits Locally Held Fund information and Petty Cash Funds records and documents.
* Assists with Department projects as needed.
* Performs other duties as required of assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
* Knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, with courses in business administration and accounting or four (4) years of technical accounting experience.
Preferred Qualifications
* One (1) year of experience in an office setting applying elementary knowledge of the laws, rules, and regulations relating to state or non-state accounting procedures.
* One (1) year experience maintaining ledger(s) for Trust accounts.
* One (1) year experience using State accounting software.
* One (1) year of experience in an office setting performing detailed work involving the application of accounting theory to routine accounting or auditing problems.
* Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, and government accounting systems.
* One (1) year of experience in an office setting applying elementary knowledge of professional accounting and auditing theory, principles, methods, and procedures.
* Elementary knowledge of office methods, procedures, standard office accounting machines and equipment.

* Requires ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
* Requires ability acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
* Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
* Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties.
* Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
* Overtime is a condition or employment, and you may be required to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime.
