This is a Sworn Sheriff Position which requires BLET Certification. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Transportation Supervisor. - Follows all policies, orders, rules, and regulations governing by the Sheriff's Office and Jail Division.
- On Call responsibilities
- Operates, maintains and ensures division vehicles are in proper working order.
- Warrants, summons, subpoenas, civil process papers.
- Operates computers to run criminal checks and to enter information.
- Prepares and maintains a variety of records and files.
- Performs a variety of special tasks, duties and assignments at the direction of the Division Commander and or designee.
- Assist with other duties as needed or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education & Experience General knowledge of law enforcement methods, practices and procedures; general knowledge of the geography of the county and location of important buildings; general knowledge of the rules and regulations of the Sheriff's Department; ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and to prepare clear reports; ability to deal courteously but firmly with the public; ability to analyze situations and to adopt quick, effective and reasonable courses of action with due regard to surround hazards and circumstances; possession of physical agility and endurance; skill in the use of firearms, chemical agents, weapons of defense and the operation of a motor vehicle; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates. High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of Basic Law Enforcement Training certification.Must meet and maintain minimum qualifications for the position established by the department and the State of North Carolina. Valid driver's license in the State of North Carolina. This position is a safety sensitive position and subject to random substance abuse testing in accordance with the Pender County Personnel Policy and Risk Policy.
