APPLICANT LISTS MAY BE SCREENED MORE THAN ONCE.The General Services Department (GSD) is the agency that holds the responsibility of furnishing essential resources and services that support state government operations in New Mexico. GSDs professional staff provides multiple lines of insurance coverage and group health benefits; litigation defense, loss prevention and alternative dispute resolution services; facility planning and design services and construction management; building and landscape maintenance services; vehicle leasing and air transportation services; technical support for agencies in the procurement process; printing and graphic art products; and financial and accounting services. Our customers include state agencies, local public bodies, public schools, institutions of higher education and their employees. Why does the job exist?This position provides a clean work environment for employees and customers of the State of New Mexico. How does it get done?Perform janitorial services, cleaning, sanitizing restrooms, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, high and low dusting and removing waste from state employee offices, work stations and building common areas. Other duties as assigned, such as hard floor and carpet work. Who are the customers?This position serves customers and employees of the State of New Mexico. Ideal Candidate- Experience using a backpack vacuum- Experience cleaning and sanitizing public restrooms- Experience keeping buildings in a clean and orderly condition, performing heavy cleaning duties- Experience performing specialized janitorial services Minimum QualificationEighth grade education. Employment RequirementsMust possess and maintain a valid New Mexico driver license. Working ConditionsContinuous walking and standing; Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, bending/stooping, reaching above the shoulder level; Climbing stairs, grasping and manipulating with hands; Must be able to use backpack vacuum daily, weighing 10-12 pounds.
