We work on a wide range of issues from homelessness to housing to immigration to employment and provide services ranging from shelter to tenant rights outreach to residential care, from deportation defense and immigrant rights education to workforce development for day laborers and domestic workers.
**Job Description**
**Primary responsibilities**
* Sweep and mop floors.
* Clean buildings by emptying trash, sweeping, and cleaning surfaces.
* Clean and disinfect frames of beds, tables, chairs, and other furniture on a weekly basis.
* Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
* Use the less toxic or non toxic at all cleaning solutions to remove stains and clean surfaces.
* Mix various non toxic cleaning agents.
* Clean windows, bed partitions, and mirrors, using non toxic products, sponges, and squeegees.
* Dust furniture and scrub surfaces clean.
* Clean and service restrooms with mops and disinfectants.
* Move equipment and furniture when necessary.
* Identify and report possible repairs.
**Responsibilities**
* Clean and supply designated building areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling and heater vents, restroom cleaning, etc.)
* Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities
* Carry out heavy cleansing tasks and special projects
* Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs
* Stock and maintain supply rooms
* Cooperate with the rest of the staff
* Follow all health and safety regulations
**Requirements**
* Proven working experience as a janitor
* Ability to handle janitorial equipment in a professional manner
* Knowledge of cleaning with supplies and non toxic products
* Integrity and ability to work independently
* COVID vaccination required.
