Job Type Full-time Description Summary: This is a non-exempt position. The incumbent is responsible for the daily cleaning, sanitizing, and upkeep of the facility to maintain a safe and healthy environment. Rate of Pay: $17.65 per hour Hours: Monday-Friday must be available between the hours of 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Cleans and disinfects classrooms, offices, residential houses, hallways, restrooms, and other common areas.
- Dusts all horizontal and vertical surfaces, furniture, spot wash walls, clean and polish fixtures, air vents, handrails, blinds, windows and sills and other items as required.
- Coach and provide direction to adults living with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Collects and disposes regular trash and recycles materials.
- Replenishes, hand soap, hand sanitizers, and other supplies as needed.
- At times, limited ground maintenance may be performed such as, but not limited to, mowing and trimming lawns, hedges, and cleaning snow from sidewalks.
- Ensures heating, cooling, and other systems are operational, reporting issues to the supervisor immediately.
- Maintains a neat and orderly janitors' room; ensures cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked.
- Assists in examining facility for safety hazards; reports deficiencies to maintenance supervisor.
- Operates cleaning machinery such as, but not limited to, floor scrubbers, carpet cleaners, vacuum, and buffer.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements Qualifications: Must be at least 21 years old, with a valid driver's license, and approved to transport clients. License may not be Provisionals and have a driving record that reflects responsibility and maturity. Complete all DDA Core Training successfully. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
- Detailed oriented and thorough.
- Ability to perform basic repairs and operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance.
- Ability to keep the facility clean and orderly.
- Ability to interact with staff, clients, and visitors while remaining professional, polite, and courteous.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work-related experience required.
- At least 2 - 3 years of custodial/janitorial experience preferred.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand and walk 90% of work time; sit and/or drive 10%. Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull 60 pounds; must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch and reach. All the requirements are necessary in order to properly supervise and assist individuals with disabilities. Should be able to climb stairs/ladder and have good balance.
