**Janitor**
**Department:** Property Management **Location:** Washington , DC

Our more than 30 programs throughout the District provide comprehensive services that lead to mental and physical health, continued sobriety, job training, living-wage employment and affordable housing. We meet immediate needs with food, clothing and healthcare and offer the tools one needs to live with hope, dignity and greater independence.**
SOME Inc. is currently seeking a full-time **Janitor** for our Property Management department.
**Position Overview:** The **Janitor** is responsible for keeping our residential buildings in a clean and orderly condition. The **Janitor** will perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. Duties may include performing routine maintenance activities, notifying management of need for repairs, and cleaning snow or debris from sidewalk.
**Qualifications**
**Required*:*** High School diploma/GED; 2 years of janitorial experience; **multi-family housing experience a plus!**
**Schedule:** Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm (40 Hours per week) ; some evenings
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:**
* Must have a commitment to service excellence with a friendly and positive attitude
* Maintain a professional appearance and friendly attitude toward residents and community staff while maintaining required boundaries
* Ability to keep up with the physical demands of being on your feet and walking for much of the day
* Exceptional attention to detail and quality
* Ability to take direction, work productively on ones own and adhere to a schedule
* Must be able to complete cleaning duties checklist daily
**EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS:**
**Janitorial:** Maintain the overall cleanliness of the apartment building, common, and amenity areas. Maintain curb appeal by ensuring trash is removed from property. Sweep, Vacuum, Mop Floors, Clean Restrooms. Take out the trash from common areas and other designated locations. Clean and Sanitize surfaces in all common area spaces. Perform High/Low Dusting. Clean windows and mirrors. Remove tape residue from walls and other surfaces. Deep clean common space resident kitchens monthly, bathrooms quarterly. Develop and maintain professional boundaries with residents. Informs manager of any building safety or maintenance concerns.
**PHYSICAL DEMANDS:** Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Requires walking up and down stairs, must be able to bend, squat and be on feet, walking for most of the day.
**WORKING CONDITIONS**: This position is in a residential setting. Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
