Working Title Janitoral Attendant WAGE WH009 Role Title Hsekeep &/or Apparel Workr II - 79072 Location Hanover - 085 Job Description The Virginia Public Safety Training Center is seeking a qualified candidate to ensure the protection of the citizens of the Commonwealth. This 29 hour a week wage position provides a clean, safe and attractive indoor business environment by means of performing general janitorial and custodial duties daily to the interior and immediate exterior of the Virginia Public Safety Training Center (VPSTC ) buildings. Tasks include but not limited to: dusting, vacuuming, empty trash cans (individual office & building), disposal of trash in facility dumpsters, stripping, waxing, buffing, scrubbing floors, cleaning restrooms, restocking of all restroom paper products & soap, cleaning of all windows interior and exterior including sills to maintain building/property in a clean, sanitized and safe condition.

This position also serves as daily custodial attendant to clean up all spills, toilet overflow conditions and litter including set-up/breakdown, arranging of furniture, tables, chairs and equipment daily to VPSTC meeting/convention spaces, classrooms and all areas preparing the facilities events per schedule and as directed. Position will assist the VPSTC Maintenance Department in unclogging of toilets and monitoring and preventing overflow or running toilets. In addition, maintains complete inventory of all janitorial supplies and equipment necessary to perform Janitorial and Custodial duties in all VPSTC Buildings used for training and business operations including partners leased spaces of VPSTC .

Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. Ability to work days, evenings, nights and/or weekends. Ability to learn the safe application of janitorial chemicals and their proper use, including the ability to tolerate contact with a variety of cleaning products and solutions. Experience in operating manual and power commercial vacuum cleaners, floor-stripping equipment, buffing equipment with attachments, and knowledge of related safety practices. Demonstrated ability to implement work plans and plan day-to-day work activities with prior guidance from supervisor. Ability to read and write in English understand and follow oral/written English instructions. Ability to perform basic computer skills. Must be able to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs. and work at elevated heights up to 15 feet. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual labor. Valid drivers license is required. Preferred Qualifications Considerable experience in business environment janitorial and custodial duties.
