Job Summary

Under the direction of the Janitorial Lead, Janitorial Technicians are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of assigned City facilities and surrounding grounds. Duties include routine cleaning, sanitation, and minor maintenance tasks. The Janitorial Technicians may interact with City employees and the public.

Essential Job Functions and Other Important Duties

* Maintain facility kitchens and restrooms to ensure cleanliness and sanitation; mop floors, disinfect toilets and sinks, clean mirrors and glass surfaces, and refill soap and paper dispensers.

* Empty and clean refrigerators and microwaves as scheduled.

* Vacuum carpeted areas and sweep, mop, strip, wax, and buff non-carpeted floors as needed.

* Dust and clean hard surfaces such as desks, bookshelves, tables, chairs, counters, windowsills, and glass fixtures.

* Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables, ensuring appropriate disposal.

* Perform minor repairs, such as changing light bulbs and painting; report major repair needs to the Facilities Supervisor.

* Remain accessible via personal cell phone during work hours to address job-related issues or emergencies, utilizing designated city applications for communication and response.

* Notify supervisors about supply needs, safety concerns, and maintenance issues.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Formal Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Training (Licenses(s) and/or Certification(s): Valid Texas Class C Driver's License.

Disclaimer: Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed & Environmental Factors and Other Physical Requirements

Knowledge of operating a personal computer and associated software programs, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications.

Knowledge of different cleaning solutions and their correct application on different surfaces and procedures.

Skill in utilizing a personal computer and related software for efficient task management and communication.

Skill in attention to detail and accuracy in performing assigned tasks.

Ability to establish and maintain professionally effective relationships with external public/vendors, internal management and non-management employees, and City and other government officials.

Ability to develop, implement, and administer goals, objectives, and procedures for providing effective and efficient services for the City.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with strong time and task management skills.

Subject to perform essential functions in various environments, including office, outdoor, remote, and areas with potential workplace hazards, requiring standing, walking, sitting, handling objects, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, talking, hearing, and safely lifting and carrying objects up to fifty (50) pounds.

Required visual acuity, speech, and hearing, along with hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate office equipment effectively.

Regularly scheduled for 5-day, 40-hour workweek, Monday through Friday; may be required to work evenings and weekends. Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours is essential.
