One of SGA's major financial industry clients is seeking a technically strong Java/Kafka Full Stack Developer for a contract-to-hire position to work as part of a highly visible, focused team tasked with building and enhancing a platform used for complex financial applications. The right candidate will be very hands-on for technical day to day development responsibilities and while they should have a good baseline skillset in Java and Kafka based development, the flexibility and ability to pick up new technologies as needed (such as Python coding) is required. Many projects will involve integrating 3 rd party software solutions, including solving and building solutions to pull data from many mixed and evolving sources (some cloud, some on prem). This will be a hybrid role (3 days onsite) based out of Lake Mary, FL In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:
- Provide application software development services or technical support for complex applications.
- Responsible for building application components in-line with functional and non-functional requirements
- Has thorough knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle with emphasis on best practices of design, development, testing and CI/CD.
- Conducts reviews of the test Plan and test Data. May allocate/ coordinate work within a team/project.
- Leads the technical design, development, and documentation of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems. Analyze, define, and document requirements for data, workflow, and logical processes and interfaces with other systems.
- Ensure that expected application performance levels are achieved by coordinating, coding, testing, implementation, and documentation.
- Programming well-designed, testable, efficient code. Analyze, design, and develop tests and test-automation suites. Develop flowcharts, layouts and documentation to satisfy requirements and solutions.
- Maintain software functionality and currency (technical debt and gain). Actively participate in code reviews. Integrate software components into a fully functional software system.
- Apply security and privacy principles. Execute full lifecycle software development. Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures. Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems. Ensure software is updated with latest features.
- Participate in deployment process following all change controls. Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms. Provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices. Collaborate closely with all the other members of the team to take shared responsibility for the overall efforts that the team has committed to. Collaborate cross-functionally with data engineers, business users, project managers and other engineers to achieve elegant solutions.
- Act as mentor to junior level engineers.
To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required.
- 5-7 years of experience in software development required; experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
- Prior experience with using a specific application development toolkit and knowledge of Java, Kafka, SQL and NO-SQL databases.
- Extensive experience with developing, testing and supporting distributed applications required.
- Must have experience working on data intensive backend processing. Additional requirements include intermediate understanding of security principles, application frameworks, testing framework, release frameworks.
- Cloud experience (Azure will be long-term solution)
