DescriptionSummaryThe incumbent in this position will provide job specific training, support and supervision to consumers with disabilities who work outside of Goodwill Industries. Ensure that individuals' needs are met; goals are implemented; and a safe environment is maintained at their job site. Duties include, but are not limited to; identify and facilitate transition plans; providing training on proper work techniques and socialization skills; communicating client progress and providing feedback; providing coverage for other job coaches as needed; and providing structured intervention techniques and support to consumers in job training programs.This individual will maintain case notes on the current system for each consumer's case worked on a daily basis; performs job coach duties in the absence of other job coach (s); including but not limited to: training consumers on various job duties/workplace policies and procedures/social skills/safe and efficient operation of equipment, etc.; performing Job Readiness Training; advocating for consumers in the workforce to promote successful relationships between employers and employees.The ideal candidate will possess excellent oral/written communication skills and problem solving/organizational skills. The candidate must also have the ability to multi-task and be able to work flexible hours. DESCRIPTION
  • The work schedule for a Job Coach (JC) is flexible and may change from week to week. It is not a traditional Monday through Friday due to the nature of the job.
  • JC is expected to meet with consumers during their scheduled job coaching hours.
  • JC is expected to maintain professional documentation. All documentation must be proofread for spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors.
  • Documentation must be submitted ESC, or Manager of Mission Services if ESC is unavailable, for approval prior to being distributed to consumers and/or DARS counselors. Job Coach Logs are to be reviewed and approved before obtaining the consumer signature.
  • When consumers are not present, the JC should be working on applications, building resumes, calling to check on consumers, etc. It is expected that the JC will communicate with the ESC for another assignment if they have any unexpected down time.
  • It is expected that each JC maintain a level of professional courtesy to their counterparts. It is also expected that each JC communicate effectively with all Employment Services team members.
  • JC is expected to maintain contact with the Employment Specialist (ES) of any tardiness, absences, problems/critical incidents/concerns regarding consumers or the training site.
  • JC is expected to maintain program structure and outline, and coordinate with the ES any amendments to structure and outline to meet the needs of the consumers and/or employment site management.
  • JC is expected to turn in Job Coaching Logs by the last day of the month that have been proofread, as well as grammar, spell, and content checked, to the ESC. The ESC will approve the Job Coach Logs and return to the JC to obtain consumer signatures.
  • JC is expected to participate in scheduled Employment Services Division meetings with the Manager of Mission Services, at a time/location designated by the Director of Mission Services.
Essential FunctionsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to communicate effectively orally, in writing and electronically; conduct situational assessments, proofread and verify confidential documentation; organize, plan and prioritize work; make decisions and solve problems; work with outside agencies. Education/ExperienceQualified individuals must have a high school diploma or GED, and one year of related experience working with individuals with disabilities. Possess computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Excel/Outlook). Must be customer/detail oriented (retail experience preferred). A valid TXDL/driving record acceptable to agency liability carrier is required for this position; ability to lift up to 25lbs.
