JOB DESCRIPTION/DUTIES:
The Neumann University's School of Business, which is accredited by ACBSP, invites applications for a full-time faculty position with a focus in Sport and Esport Management to begin in August 2025. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience. We currently offer two undergraduate degrees: Sport Management and Esports Industry & Content Management, as well as one master's degree: Sport Business.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Teaching responsibilities will be four courses per semester at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
* The faculty member will be expected to be research active, provide high-quality teaching, serve on departmental, school and/or university committees as appropriate, assist with program assessment, participate in building community within the program, and advise students.
* The faculty member will be expected to help prepare students for careers in these industries, through encouragement and assistance with internship placement and building professional networks.
* Continue to grow the esports academic program to align with market demand, advise esports students, teach esports and/or sport management/sport business classes as needed, and work to build an advisory board for the esports program.
* The successful candidate will work closely with other disciplines across the university to create a vibrant esports academic ecosystem.
Faculty Protocol:
* Candidates should be aware that Neumann University does not have a system of tenure, but instead offers faculty a policy-governed system of promotion and increasingly extended contracts with faculty seniority.
* All faculty members are expected to engage in student-focused activities such as advising, career mentoring, enrollment, and retention.
Qualifications:
* An earned master's degree in a related discipline from an accredited program is required by start date. Doctorate degree preferred. ABD Candidates will be considered.
* Ideal applicants will have a demonstrated ability to develop and effectively teach a variety of Esport and sport management/business courses (in face-to-face, hybrid, and online environments) and understand the competitive Esport industry landscape.
* Strong applicants will have an established network of professionals from the Esport community.
* Candidates should have strong communication skills, a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, and a student-focused orientation.
* Candidates must possess an appreciation for, congruence with, and commitment to the Franciscan mission of the University that values diversity, equity, and inclusion.
