POSITION PURPOSE: Ensure the City of Enid facilities' electrical systems are well maintained and operating efficiently through the effective utilization of a preventive maintenance program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
* Design, assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures for:
* City of Enid electrical infrastructure in the water production system not limited to the water plant, lake intake, intermediate booster pump station, pump station.
* City of Enid water wells.
* City of Enid water and waste water equipment necessary to ensure EPA compliance.
* Works with Water Production supervisor, operations staff, and system integrators to ensure plant processes and equipment are functioning correctly.
* Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
* Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
* Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
* Prepare and update documents for communication with utility providers to facilitate repairs.
* Advise management on potential hazards of continued operation of equipment.
* Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
* Assist Civil Defense, power utility, and generator suppliers during natural disasters with critical electrical services and direct repairs.
* Assist with training of City personnel in areas of electrical safety and troubleshooting skills.
* Provide assistance to other departments as needed.
* Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
One-year certificate from college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES:
Active State of Oklahoma Unlimited Journeyman's license.
Complete continuing education annually to maintain licensure.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
Electrical: Electrical voltages, 3-phase power systems, electrical safety, and motor controls.
Mechanical: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
English Language: Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Public Safety and Security: Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:

PHYSICAL STRENGTH:
PDC Level: Medium Employee lifts/carries 50 lbs. occasionally (less than 33% of the time or 1-100 times per day). Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily product/technical nature. Exertion of push/pull force of 120 lbs. Frequent climbing; overhead reaching and lifting, carrying, squatting, kneeling and crawling.
LANGUAGE/COMPREHENSION:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
MATHEMATICS ABILITY:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS:
Regular -8 hour shift, typically 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.
24-hour call, nights and weekends, as required.
Overtime as required.
Other-Variable lunch period and breaks in coordination with other personnel.
WORK CONDITIONS:
Outdoors exposed to changing weather conditions (for instance sun, rain, snow, wind, etc.)

5-7 years related work experience.

Ability to fill in for Electrical Contractor for short periods (if licensed).
Class D Water and/or Wastewater License.
Familiarity with freshwater ground systems, wastewater systems, and sewer lift stations.
Unlimited Electrical Contractor's License.
Valid CPR certification.
ADVANCED
8+ years experience.
Working knowledge of 3 operating systems.
Ability to fill in for Electrical Contractor for extended periods (if licensed).
Class C Water and/or Wastewater License.
Expert knowledge of freshwater ground systems, wastewater systems, and sewer lift stations.
Associate degree or equivalent in related field.
SCADA system trouble shooting ability.
Class A CDL.
