We are seeking a Power Lineman to join our transmission line construction team. We are searching for a highly skilled lineman to assist with the installation and repair of overhead transmission lines. In this role, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of electricity to our members. This position is subject to emergency call-in and has a residency requirement to live within 35 miles of Madison, South Dakota.At East River Electric Power Cooperative we're dedicated to providing reliable and affordable wholesale power to our members across 40,000 square miles of service area. As a not-for-profit generation and transmission cooperative, we provide electricity to 24 rural electric distribution cooperatives and one municipally owned electric system serving eastern South Dakota and western Minnesota. - Perform maintenance, inspections, construction, and operational duties on overhead transmission lines and associated equipment.
- Install or replace equipment on transmission poles at heights up to 100 feet.
- Work outdoors with considerable physical exertion, occasionally in adverse weather conditions.
- Operate and maintain a variety of equipment and tools used in power line construction and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently.
- Be available to provide assistance and troubleshoot issues in emergency situations, working as needed to restore power.
- Participate in safety meetings and contribute to our safety culture.
Showcase Your Knowledge, Abilities, and Expertise. Do you have?
- A degree/certificate in power line construction and maintenance
- Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL), or ability to obtain a CDL
- USDA Certified Commercial Applicators license or the ability to obtain one within one year
- Excellent communication skills and ability to develop positive working relationships
- Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office products and computer technology
- The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
