Job Summary: Title: Jr. Art Director Location: New York, NY (Full-Time, On-Site) Portfolio: Required - either link or PDF The Role: Roc Nation is looking for a Jr. Art Director who loves elevating aesthetics through photography and videos aligning artist and athlete objectives with brand objectives to ultimately meet the goals for shared collaborations. You will report to the VP of Creative and work closely with our Creative Production Department across all photo and video needs company-wide. Responsibilities:
- Partner with VP of Creative, Art Director, and Creative Strategy Manager to create global digital style guides to support the regions with campaign execution
- Lead a team of 4 - responsible for photo and video across brands, clients, events and freelance management
- Attend on-site photo and video shoots, as needed and assists with shoot production, direction, and post-production. Shows a comprehensive understanding of pre and post-production processes in photography and videography; including shoot planning, budget tracking, color grading, retouching, and markups/revisions for product and beauty images
- Develops pixel-perfect, highly innovative, refined digital and print creative assets under fast-paced timelines based on global style guides
- Directly manage files in an organized manner that aligns to the overall process; providing assets in a variety of specs and partners to produce and release a large volume of creative
- Demonstrates solid grasp of brand aesthetic, usability principles, and high taste level in design sensibility. Displays understanding of typography, photography, layout, graphic and digital design; ensuring all assets adhere to brand guidelines
- Has basic image retouching skills; i.e. changing background colors behind product photography, clipping out objects, etc.
- Navigates the creative process independently AND collaboratively, negotiating successfully with other teams while being communicative, proactive, resourceful, professional, and flexible
- Maintains collaborative partnerships with supporting teams, including Creative, Brands Digital, Marketing and affiliated brands; fostering strong partnerships with team members
- The incumbent needs to be comfortable asserting a strategic and creative perspective that guides creative and client conversations to new and exciting places
- Manage and build creative relationships, while being able to find new freelancers and agencies as needed - this person has a strong network of local established creatives in NYC and LA

- Ideation & Pitching - able to create ideas and create materials that are compelling through copywriting and visual references and moodboards, and storytelling. Ability to verbalize concepts and pitches to both internal and external audiences through compelling and succinct communication
- Agility & Innovation - learns quickly when facing new problems, analyzes both successes and failures for clues to improvement; experiments and will try to find new solutions. Fosters a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team

Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree or BFA. Graphic Design(or related: Communications Design, Art Direction, etc.) degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- 5 - 7 plus years of Design and Art Direction experience in Retail/E-Commerce, Music, Fashion or Advertising Agency environments
- Strong interest in the entertainment industry - music & brand collaborations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for internal and external communication
- Strong on-set art direction skills with experience working with out-of-house teams and partners to generate on-brand, compelling assets for multiple marketing and brand placements
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong problem-solving skills with focus on developing and recommending solutions quickly and in a calm and clear manner
- Must possess excellent typography, layout, and design skills
- Knowledge of Adobe's Creative Suite; with a comfortable and proficient knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop; XD, AfterEffects, Adobe Premiere, Illustrator, Bridge, and remainder of Suite is highly encouraged
- Solid time management, organization skills, file management and excellent attention to detail and consistency
- Must be able to work autonomously and remain flexible to changing priorities; ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to understand clients' marketing objectives and work closely with senior strategy team to develop plan to support these objectives
- Ability to synthesize research and disparate information into a cohesive plan, finding the through line across varying inputs
- Strategic thinker at the core with strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Deep knowledge of all social media platforms and their perceived value audiences
- On top of the latest industry trends, breakthrough creative campaigns, and emerging technologies
