Job Description: As a Jr. Data Engineer, you will join a small, fast-moving team that collaborates closely to build robust data pipelines and analytics solutions for high-impact work throughout the Client. You will be responsible for designing and maintaining performant data pipelines on big data sets, developing data models, and deploying pipelines in a CI/CD environment. This role offers the opportunity to work autonomously, ship fast, iterate, and learn from others, contributing to data-driven decision-making and policy planning. Key Responsibilities:
- Design and maintain robust data pipelines that are performant on big data sets.
- Develop clean code that utilizes object-oriented paradigms when appropriate.
- Work in a CI/CD environment and deploy pipelines effectively.
- Build data models, architect data solutions, and manage data warehousing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate data requirements into technical specifications for pipelines and visualizations.
- Develop data visualizations in Power BI and ensure data integrity and reliability.
- Implement data security best practices and continuously monitor data pipeline performance.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies in data engineering and contribute to team innovation.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the team.
Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies:
- Proven experience in designing and maintaining robust data pipelines that perform well on big data sets.
- 3+ years of experience programming in SQL, Python, and relevant packages like Pandas, and with Apache Spark.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure (Azure SQL, Synapse, Databricks, etc.).
- Strong foundation in data modeling, architecture, and data warehousing.
- Experience in building visualizations in Power BI.
- Knowledge of CI/CD practices and deploying data pipelines.
- Understanding of data security best practices and how to implement them.
- Effective communication skills to translate data requirements into technical specifications.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or equivalent professional experience.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in agile development methodologies and version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Experience working with NoSQL databases.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional, inter-agency teams.
- Experience working in small, fast-paced teams.
