This employee assists the Recreation Center Leader and Recreation Center Assistant with daily operations of facility. Serves as first point of contact in recreation facility and provides assistance with program operations, such as making reservations, general record keeping, supply purchasing, and other related support work as required.Work is performed under the supervision of Recreation Center Leader or Recreation Center Assistant who reviews work primarily on the basis of results attained, feedback from program supervisors and line staff, and direct observation. Employees in this classification may assist program staff with general clientele and program participants. Employees must be flexible to work nights and weekends. Applicants must be 16-18 years of age. Essential Duties and Tasks
- Provides assistance creating and maintaining records in recreation management software.
- Maintains fitness equipment and general cleaning of fitness center.
- Assists with activities in facility, including the leisure center/game room area.
- Develops supply-purchasing needs; performs research for supply purchases; organizes and distributes snacks and supplies for program.
- Researches program activities and projects; prepares resources for staff for utilization in program development.
- Prepares program reports regarding general program information.
- May type correspondence, memos, calendars, rosters, and lists.
- Maintains records and files on programs, classes, and activities.
- Maintain organization of storage areas.
- Performs other job-related duties or tasks as required.

Physical Requirements/Special Requirements Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, and bend, occasionally in conjunction with reaching for and manipulating objects. The position requires mobility including the ability to move materials weighing up to 25 pounds on a regular basis such as boxes/bags of activity materials, snack foods, etc. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 70% of the work period while working with children in activities.Work EnvironmentEmployee is subject to indoor and outdoor temperatures (over 90% inside and the remainder outside). Exposure to loud noise fluctuates but is on average low and never requires ear protection. The Flexible Spending Account (FSA) is available to all full-time employees who are scheduled to work 40 hours per week. Social Security: The City employees are members of the Social Security System. The employee contributes 6.2% (FICA) and 1.45% (Medicare) for a total of 7.65% of their annual salary and the City contributes the same amount. Social Security benefits include retirement and disability payments and survivor's insurance.Tuition Reimbursement: Tuition reimbursement is available to all full-time employees up to $2500 per fiscal year for job-related courses or required courses leading to a job-related degree.
