Personal attributes in the areas of communication, collaboration, integrity, positive approach and growth mindset are key. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with administration, teachers, counselors, and community members for alternative student development
  • Oversee the digital learning platform for all alternative students (currently utilizing APEX)
  • Work collaboratively with the designated counselors to create and oversee in person instructional courses for the alternative students that meet the IDOE course descriptions.
  • Track individual student data as determined in the alternative program student handbook
  • Scheduled on going meetings with parents and key stakeholders to review student data and academic progress
  • Make appropriate program recommendations to administration for the students best interest
  • Ability to guide and mentor challenging students in a positive direction
  • Ability to reach out to business owners to create partnerships for our alternative students to develop employability opportunities
  • Ability to reach out to community agencies, community members, and other key stakeholders to provide students with ongoing support and guidance
  • Creative, growth, and progressive mindset
  • Provide a Social Emotional Learning curriculum to the students as designated by the school corporation.
  • Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in
  • Participate in ongoing professional development.
  • Maintain grade books.
  • Utilize various curriculum resources.
  • Observe, evaluate, and report student's performance.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures.

  • 4 or more years of relevant experience
  • Pass expanded criminal history check and expanded child protection index check required by IC 20-26-5-10
  • Apply for an Adjunct Teaching Permit in the content area of Blended and Online Teaching
  • Experience in working with challenging youth
  • Experience in running a virtual classroom
  • Able to work effectively and communicate with a wide range of students, staff and administration.
  • Proficient and competent demonstration of reading and writing capabilities.
  • Strong human relations skills, including professional tact, diplomacy and presentation.
  • Multi-tasking ability and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to utilize 21st century technological skills to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Maintain a Substitute Teaching Permit
  • Complete any and all training within the prescribed timeframes for adjunct teaching license per Indiana Code.

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
