Provides security and support functions to the Judge and staff.2. Support functions include making arrests and executing warrants.3. Maintains and secures the courtroom.4. Maintains excellent public, staff and court relationships during the course of business.5. Carries a firearm with legal authority to use it in proper circumstances and is charged with the responsibility of knowing when those circumstances are present.6. Transports inmates from jail to court and return to jail after court appearance.7. Checks and updates court dockets prior to scheduled docket dates.8. Performs occasional administrative duties such as answering the phone, preparing yearly budget, monitoring monthly budget, scheduling appointments for officials, picking up mail, review for threats, make distribution, preparing purchase orders, picking up items from supplier (Purchasing Dept.), and perform other related clerical duties.9. Confirms active warrants and makes arrest. Follows the Code of Judicial Conduct.10. Assists Court in obtaining and providing services relating to jury activities.11. Uses computer to order prisoners for court appearances.12. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum RequirementsNOTE: YOU MUST FILL OUT THE WORK HISTORY and EDUCATION SECTIONS OF APPLICATION TO SHOW YOU HAVE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION AS REQUIRED BY HIRING DEPARTMENT OR BE DISQUALIFIED.High School diploma or GED and two (2) years law enforcement related experience. Peace Officer Certification through TCOLE and a working knowledge of the Court. Mandatory firearms qualification and physical training. Must have dependable transportation for the delivery of subpoenas. Note that this position is not a Civil Service position.If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment at New Hire Processing or during the promotional process.Tarrant County will conduct background checks that will include a criminal background check and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records, educational attainment, or additional State or Federal legal requirements. Physical Demands and Work Environment & Other Requirements Frequent exposure to a variety of hazards, including infectious diseases. Some exposure to working outdoors, extreme temperature swings and noise levels. Applicants must be able to perform the essential functions of this position without posing a direct threat to the health or safety of themselves or others. Bailiffs deal with criminals on a daily basis. Must be able to respond to emergency situations which may include the use of physical force.ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Frequent sitting, standing, and walking.
